Hell, I'm kinda identifying with the guy. I only have a very limited amount that I can justify spending on hobbies, and have to school myself not to go spend the car payment on those Sidi boots I've been drooling over for some months now.
Lately, there seems to be an attitude on this forum that if you're not an ATGATT you're a squid, or deserve to be injured.
I got my bike in part to enjoy the sense of freedom that it inspires, and frankly, sometimes it seems that spending 20 minutes putting on gear to take a trip to the video store is just not worth it.
I see a pic of a guy on a nice bike, enjoying himself.

Get the make the beast with two backs over it.

Although if you're taking a 999r to the video store you should expect a little online grief about that too.

You do see the irony in your last line right?

I do see how the gear spin would get pretty old if it weren't for the fact that the forum is so big on rider training and riding skill.

and common...gloves are more important to the ability to actually function (work) post crash for most of us.

experienced riders:  do whatever you want.  of course.    But tons of new riders here and they should be strongly encouraged to take the very easy precautions to prevent easily identifyable harms and thus extend their motorcycling hobby into the years when they can make informaed decisions about what they want to wear.

and the guy might be a great rider with lots of track time just screwing around trying on a new suit for all we know and making fun of the pic himself.

look, it doesn't take much to put on long pants, long sleeve shirt, gloves, over the ankle shoes/boots and a helmet. that should be the minimum 'gear'

a friend just took a spill recently with all that on, albeit a sweatshirt, regular work gloves, work boots, and normal pants. now he has road rash on his arm where the sweatshirt was SHREDDED, raspberry on the knee with some slight bruising and a broken thumb. all that at 30 mph in town from a low side dump to avoid hitting a car.

had he been dressed like that guy... probably broken ankle, SHREDDED HANDS as well as broken thumb. but hey no road rash on the arm or knee.

your choice. but as for me. i'm wearing the RIGHT gear.

Personally, it would take me longer to put on the suit, than to put on boots, jackets, and gloves. Not much time savings there. But I don't care what gear he wears. They're his hands and feet. Me, I learned my lesson with a few broken bones in my hand, so now I won't ride without the right gear.

I see your point, but when a guy has a 999R, a full Dainese suit and an AGV lid and isn't wearing boots or gloves, the whole "I can't afford gear" argument doesn't really fly.  Also, I'm pretty much positive the guys is just screwing around.  And we're the ones getting our panties in a bunch.  [laugh]

Re AGATT, the DMF is pretty much an AGATT forum.  You'll hear about it a lot.  Sure, many stray from that ideal sometimes or even all the time.  But it's a good norm to set and to keep repeating.  I think about it every time I take the Blonde's scooter two blocks to the beer store wearing flip flops and shorts.   ;D

gear will save you from breaking a bone in your hand? who knew?

I agree with bun-bin for the most part........starting to feel very high-schoolish with all this gear bashing and snobbery

it's kind of sad when when all folks care about is is lack of boots when there is an awesome looking Ducati in the picture!

Gus Duc

On second thought........................ maybe he's just got wide feet............ too wide for boots........... he is wearing New Balance's afterall [cheeky]

The GTFO it was tongue in cheek, well mostly. I agree with you about the need for gear, I'm just tired of the pick pick pick attitude I'm seeing on this board over the past month or so. The OP posted a pic (hopefully) for a laugh, and it gets 2 pages of snarky, doom n' gloom comments. WTF?

maybe he's showing that the sleeves and ankles of the suir don't ride up.

having gorilla arms and freak legs i have that problem a lot.

i appreciate him taking the risk to show me what a quality suit daniese puts out.

either way. if i got the chance to ride that bike i would go in whatever gear was available.
