Has anyone removed the sound/heat pad under the S2R tank?  I would like to take it out to get more snort from my open airbox but worry about the heat issue on the bottom of the tank.  Thoughts?

+1, chuck it. I have 2 sitting in a box in my garage. It's not for heat, it's for sound. It's just held on by velcro so have at it...

I didn't notice any notable change of the intake noise with or without it on.

I did notice a decrease in valve noise with it on.  I didn't like the valve noise, so I keep it on.  I am of the minority in this aspect.  Undecided

As an added plus, I get a harmonic when trolling down the street at about 3.5 K rpm's that pedestrians seem to find particularly annoying.

it could be an issue if you ever need to get a tank replacement because of defects/warping of ducati's shitty roto-moulded tanks.
