DMG: We'd like you to host our race, but not many spectators will come, and you'll lose your ass.

Miller: Ummm, no, thanks.

in the inaugural year of their new better best AMA they... fail to make an appearance at the world-level sister event; the only one in the states.  the same one that won wsbk event of the year last year and was a major happening for both series.

i'm thinking that nasbike should partner up exclusively with KTM.

and i can't wait to hear mladin's parting words as he leaves with his 7th title.

Maybe getting into bad contracts is why the old AMA failed. I think hope they are just going through some teething issues and will eventually figure out what the fans want. Not sure if i would blame them for the TV issues, probably a bad contract they inherited from the AMA. For all we know the employees are hardcore race fans and are bound by contracts and budgets.  Undecided

Not sure if you would call the old AMA any better but it was consistent (bad or good you pick) and you knew what you were getting.

I may be the only one, but i think DMG will figure it out, but don't ask me when.

The TV contract was all about DMG. It was signed and negotiated after DMG took over. Unless they have overwhelming demographic research that shows hardcore motorcycle racing enthusiast and casual fans all find themselves free at 11pm on a Saturday night and want to tune in, I will continue to believe they are morons.

I was disappointed last year when they ran WSBK and AMA on different track configurations to avoid any comparisons between the two, but it was good to have both series together and feeding off each other. Not running this event now makes as much sense as Indycar not running with ALMS more often.

At least WSBK has had some of the best racing ever this year.

Actually, I think I just figured it out. AMA is broadcast on Speed and run by DMG. Fox owns Speed and pays big bucks to broadcast NASCAR. DMG runs NASCAR too.

Maybe they decided having 2 of their properties on at the same time "competing" against one another was bad  Undecided

Either way, it's silly.

This SUCKS!

I'm riding up there to watch and now it'll just be WSBK? To be honest I don't even now what the Hell is going on with AMA anymore. I figure if I want to even SEE the races I need to be there since God only knows what will be on the tube. Last year the turnout at Miller was huge (or so I heard, that place is so big you can't really tell). What a great opportunity to get the "new" series on line and in front of all the fans. Opportunity? This way to the door please.

I thought it was bad before the sale to DMG.

Right you are.Granted I'd go just to see WSBK. I'm also taking some extra time to ride through Utah. So it's a worthy trip.  But yeah, if Mladin wins Daytona after just a few practice laps on the bike, this year may turn out to be like last year, but without Spies - ie., 10-30 second leads. Not so fun. But still, you make the trip you want to see lots of racing...

funny, maybe after his seventh title, and after losing 3 (or 2.75) in a row to Ben, people will start to realize that what wins mat's races is mat.

You would think but to put it in Matt's words:

Mladin: This Is Progress?
by dean adams
Saturday, March 21, 2009
Six-time Superbike champion Mat Mladin has held his tongue rather well this season, given how much he despises the DMG group and the new AMA Superbike rules. Mladin hasn't said much and about the only way you'd sense how he truly feels is by watching him take off the Daytona cap that was put on his head in victory circle at DIS and launch it with a quick flick of his wrist.

In the post-qualifying press conference yesterday at Fontana, series PR man Adam Saal asked Mladin for commentary as the Jordan bikes seem much more competitive at Fontana than they did at Daytona.

Talk a little about the progress being made by (your competitors) Saal asked Mladin.

"The gap from first to second is 1.3 seconds. I would not call that progress," Mladin deadpanned.

Talk about your bike, Saal asked.

"Obviously, the bike is just better than everybody else's, huh?" Mladin said. "That must be it."
