However, in good news, I did my valves last night and didn't have any  ;D I'm just happy to have made it through another year

So what's wrong with using an impact wrench to loosen the side stand fastener?

(BTW, nice hard-anodized parts!!  ^^^   [thumbsup])

Notice the broken bolt in the case.  (unlike metals and all that)  Perhaps you were being sarcastic and I missed it, has been know to happen.

Well, if it's stuck isn't an impact wrench safer than torque-ing the shit outta it with a ratchet?

A ratchet will tell you it's stuck so you can take evasive action.
