So, my left exhaust tip (termi) is starting to "bronze" i gues you can call it. is this normal? only the left, 303 miles on the bike.

could this be a sign of running rich or anything?

ill post pics tomorrow?

yep, polishable.  work it with some metal polish and it'll get back the shine.  in fact, do the whole pipe, and you'll be amazed at how good they can look.

That is normal.  The tips are stainless.  You probably could polish them, but the discoloration just gives it some character...like the blueing of the pipes around the header.  You should quit worrying about it and go ride...get past that 600 mile mark so you can see what your bike can really do...remember these bikes were built to RIDE, so RIDE the hell out of it.  The 696 is a whole new bike once you blast past 6K on the tach.

thanks guys, definitely been riding A LOT. 303 miles in a month, in march, in michigan. been in the 50's though so its been  "warm"

i have the CF slip ons, so the tips are what might get polished. i like the look, just, uneven. only the left is getting it. wish i could easily swap so the coloration is even. oh well

ill leave it

thanks again [beer]

That's normal. Look closely when you fire the bike up on a cool morning, there's more smoke from the left pipe, at least at idle.

That just seasoning - normal.  At first I thought 303 miles? That's a good day's ride in the mountains around here and then I saw Michigan.  You're lucky to get to ride at all this time of year.

Yea, put 300 more on it and flog the hell out of it.  At about 3000 you will really be familiar with the bike.

Enjoy, [thumbsup] [moto]

yeah, definitely see more fumes on the left at start up. yeah, we get about 50 miles at a time here, then either late (after work) or too cold. cant wait to  take it north along lake michigan this summer!

I feel your pain...its warm here in Charleston, but it has either been raining or I have been traveling with work ever since I got my 1100s.  I only have 1k miles on it...I can't wait for this crap weather to end.  You should just move south  [thumbsup]
