If you could run your own motorcycle (repair, parts, paint, and custom) shop, what items/services/ aspects would you like to see? What things would constitute the perfect shop to you? This is my attempt at market research.  [thumbsup]

A truly honest place that is open to modification.  Welding and fabbing.  Also dyno tuning would be great.  Other than that a good selection of readily available maintenance and other aftermarket parts.

A Dealership that stocked all the models of the bike brands they represented.

A Parts Dept. that stocked 99% of what you would want for the Brand of Motorcycle that was sold there.

Knowledgeable, friendly staff.

Service Dept. that had enough well trained Techs to be able to complete the Service work in the time stated by the book and to be able to get a Service appointment within a week or less.

Labor rate not to exceed $75 an hour.

Loyalty discounts of at least 15% on Parts and future discounts on installed parts Labor costs .     Dolph    :)

a SMALL discount on items that aren't regular inventory. I always resented paying full mark-up when the store isn't carrying the overhead. It'll also keep people from trying on a comparable item and then ordering it for themselves online.

I'd also try to sponsor bike night events and/or safety events.

tech shop doesn't have to be open Sundays, but the building should have Sunday hours for ride meetups.   coffee and breakfast wouldn't hurt.   Idealy in my head there's actually an affiliated small cubhouse attached with a cook and a bartender and a stage for live music from time to time.
It's still buy a flounder a drink month

Unfortunately paint shops are treated like the plague almost everywhere.
