how you guys know how fast you went?

i cant look at the speedo above 110, thing come up to fast on ya...

go ride twisties, not slab...

I've glanced at my instruments while in a long sweeper doing near 100 with my knee down at the track.  Its not gonna kill yah to glance at your guages going fast if you are in control.  I wouldn't recommend staring at your guages for long periods of time at any speed, but its not that difficult to take a look, specially if you are in a straight line on slab.

S4 is spot on at 137mph it wont go much faster due to wind resistance , i geared mine for 130mph max now but it once was able to just hit 140mph.

I always taped up the speedo at the track, so dont know about that.

On the street, there a lot more variables that you needs your eye on (dog in the road, pothole, LEO, motorists, kids, rock, etc)

I've got an S4, 135 or so seems about it.  I just sold my brother a CBR900RR, that will do an indicated 168 or so.   More than fast enough.  I've had all the big top end number bikes.  Have you ever gotten a felony speeding ticket?  I did.  137 on a CBR1000F, the old sport tourer, it would do about 165 topped out.  That ticket cost a $1600 fine, 180 days in jail, can't buy guns anymore, although they told me I could get a modification after a few years, it's been 7.  Oh yeah, I didn't stop either.  They came to my house.  Use me for an example, it really isn't worth it.  I did 77 out of the 180, the rest on home detention/work furlough.  Work furlough is $27.00/day in Monterey County, so $27.00 x 103 days is $2781.  Plus $5000 for a lawyer.  That was a real expensive day.  Don't do it.

Whoa corndog, quite a cautionary tale. Do you think it would have turned out differently if you had stopped?

It would if I was the one chasing him.   [cheeky]

The way I saw it (and I had a different way of thinking back then), was that I was going to jail anyway, anything over 100 can be considered wreckless and you go to jail (it's up to the cop), I did get away, buy they had a pretty good description, a bright red CBR Honda with really bright powder coated white wheels, the Marina cops knew the bike by description, and 20 minutes later they, and the Highway Patrol were at my house.   I denied everything, but they did have the right guy.   And I find out later, from friends, that the cop that arrested me used to do the same thing.  Funny, huh?   I had gotten away with it probably 75 times, been caught once.  Last time I did that.

And that is why I don't really need or want a 180 mph bike anymore.  And that's the absolute truth.

I hear you.

My younger brother did something similar.

at least you figured it out.

A very expensive lesson.   And I know more about the Norteno and Sureno gangs in Monterey County Jail than I ever wanted to know!!!

i've reached 238km/h on my 06 s2r1k, arrows system, open box and fatduc manipulator. I would have thought the 916 motor would be good for more than that. Standard gearing. Did not hit rev limiter.

Damn,
I got pulled over doing 110 indicated on my s2r800 (dont know if he clocked me or not).  I pulled over for him.  Let me go with a warning.

Hey, I'm just happy to know my bike isn't broke, running ill or a sissy.lol I'm quite happy with the thing. If I can get this fuel issue ironed out, I'm stoked.
