Ok, so we all know that a Napa P/N- 3032 filter is a cheaper alternattive to the Ducati OEM filter. My question is will this work for newer monsters like the 05 S2R 800??

I specifically looking input from someone who has physically used one in their S2R 800 or equivalent fuel tank

Thanks in advance.

The Napa 3032 is a metal filter with a 5/16" inlet and outlet capable of working with fuel injection pressures.  And they're very inexpensive.

Unless Ducati decided to start using a different size fuel line inside the newer tanks, it should work for you.  I notice that http://www.desmotimes.com/ sells them and doesn't bother listing which models that they fit, which implies to me that they work for all fuel injected Ducatis.

The last time I bought one it was under $4.00.  Just buy one and put it in there.  If it doesn't work you can come back here and call me names.  [evil]

Ok nevermind..i checked this out, it wont work because apparently the fuel filter doest have a clamp to slip into like the old bikes. you have to secure it with a screw. Which means unless you rig up some kind of clamp, you cant make it work...

Went to the dealer and ordered one. Feeling violated right now due to the price gouging..

I changed mine a few months back, and there's no clamp integral to the Ducati filter.  The Napa filter should work just fine.

I have used the Fuel filter from Desmo times and it works fine, Here is the Tutorial I put up for it,

Just what I needed

You brushed over the removal of the tab. Please explain where you tied the grounding in more detail. I'm not understanding.

Thank you for posting the "how to" by the way.. This will help a great deal this weekend. I've got a napa auto parts a few blocks away from my house. I'll check to see if they have it available.

No problem, I had the OEM filter and simply cut off the plastic tab from the that filter, this allowed me to put the grounding screw back into it's original location on the black plastic arm, the aftermarket filter sits in pretty much the same location as the OEM filter, I have moved it about 5mm closer to the the fuel pump Assembly simply to allow me more space to get the Hose clamp on the new filter.

You will notice when you have the pump assembly out of the tank that the screw goes through the arm, then the 2 small black wires go over the screw and then the plastic tab (That was attached to the OEM filter) goes on the screw, and simply tighten it down.

Thats all the piece of plastic is from the OEM filter is there for when we change to an Aftermarket filter, is to simply clamp down the wires so they make contact with each other again.

I got the Idea for the Tab from Lt Snyder of Desmotimes, he uses the same system when he does filter changes.

I hope that makes it clearer, I'll look at changing the Tutorial to make it a little more concise.
