I am with you on the looks part.  That's one of the reasons I love the SR Monsters.  The stock exhaust layout is cool.  The aftermarket systems make it look even better.  As far as the noise goes, I like it.  It is a little overboard at higher speeds, but sounds really good at idle.  Big plus of twin engine bikes.  If you want to stay away from really loud, most all of the aftermarket systems come with the removable baffles.  Just leave them in.

They stopped making the SR's becasue of the Streetfighter, didn't they?

Streetfigher would be good looking if they'd smooth out a few angles, and take that beak thing off.

they stopped making the s4r's, some say due to the desire to have the whole monster line be air cooled.
the s2r's fell victim to the 696/1100 model
I'm here for a good time, but not a long time.

Don't forget Spark exhaust.
Here's my CF Spark and midpipe.

Spark also makes a version like your current style, here http://www.desmorados.com/shop/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=332_358_65_187&products_id=543
I ceramic coated mine.
I know you'll enjoy whichever brand you choose.

I can handle the the beak, but the mirrors kill me.  Nevertheless, it will probably be my next bike.  I love the SR monsters, but can't make the switch to the new design.  I the Streetfighters's case, it kept what I like with the exhaust and the swingarm (and, at least, part of the trellis).  All of the other minor dislikes are compensated for by the 150+ hp.  I would be nice to be able to "keep up" on the straights during the weekend ride.
