ditch the land line.

i have never received a telemarketing call on my cell. ever.

I've received a couple on my cell phone. The number is all over the place though as I have had it for over ten years.

I was sitting the desk at work for a couple minutes a few weeks ago (911 dispatch) and got one of those calls on one of our direct lines (number other then 911).  [evil] I pushed #1 to talk to someone then had a nice talk with them about who they just called and how they can be criminally charged for calling us. That was fun.

Woohoohoohoo! Two personal records! For breath holding and number of sharks shot in the face.

Our only land line is our business line, so we just tell them it is a business line and they are not allowed to call us again, and to take us off their list.
It is kinda hard to get away with when you answer with your name only, but try answering with something like "Franklin Apartment's Management, this is Dave, how may I help you?" Your friends who call should know it is you from your voice and think you are just messing around, but just do it until you get the telemarketers again. It always works for us, we used to get about 6 - 7 calls EVERY day from telemarketers and now it is only about once every two or three months. Try it out, it might work.

PS: Names in this message have been changed to protect the innocent; not that anyone here really falls under that category.

I was getting those, too.  Every message they left said this is your second chance.  Wow, I have a lot of second chances.

I never answered and after about two weeks, they didn't call any more.

I was receiving calls on my cell from an agency offering to help me reduce my (non existent) credit card debt.  After telling them I am on the "do not call" list and asking them not to call proved useless I decided to talk to an agent.  I had him on the phone for a good half hour or more before telling him I have no credit card debt.  No calls after that.
