just curious what you all would get given that they will both be about the same price out the door.....

Tough call but if you are moving from an S2R to a 1098/1198 then the Ohlins on the 1098 will probably be better than the extra power of the 1198.  I was tempted to trade my 1098 for an 1198S when I saw the specs and then my common sense kicked in.  If I am getting passed by better riders on 848's at the race track then I don't really need the 1198.

This poll is worthless without boobies.

+1 on the 1098s for the Ohlins

It's like I keep saying:  Those who would sacrifice a free range session for a giant beer, deserve neither free range time nor a giant beer.

i have had guys reach back and grab my crotch in an attempt to get around me. i'll either blow in their ear or ask them politely to let go of my wang.

i am well aware that either choice is a HUGE step up in power from my 800....i guess it was a question of which will hold value and which one will make it harder to kill myself. (ie - easier to ride)

Maybe, just maybe, a 1198 will be easier to sell. It will be the "new'er" bike, but I really think that today's and tomorrow's Ducati SBK customer know what they're buying and will pay accordingly. It's beginner riders that must have the new'er models. Maybe.

If you get a 1098/1198 to make it harder to kill yourself, you're on the wrong track :o Nevertheless, 1098 less power and better/safer suspension?

let me rephrase...huge jump in power and torque going from my current bike to either one of these....maybe i should ask which will be an easier transition from my current bike...kind of a moot point though - either one will be a huge change...

Triple J

1098S

Ohlins, and it will have higher resale since it is an S model.

Not sure either is easier to ride...maybe the 1098S due to the Ohlins. The 1198S has traction control...but not the base 1198.

Ohlins here too. My '05 999 is a standard (lots of groovy carbon and billet stuff added) but I have been kicking myself for years for not getting the S. The salesman was right. He predicted I'd be doing just that and I still am. [laugh] Nothing against my standard... just not Ohlins. I went for the full 57mm Termi system and the standard 999 instead of the 999S and no Termi. Great suspension and tires always trump exhaust mods when it comes to real world riding. Get the '08 1098S. Don't make my mistake. [thumbsup]

.2007 1098s tricolore.

this... yes...

the tricolore, in time, will have the best resale IMO

its the coolest to me and i would want the upgraded suspension no matter what

i guess it looks like i may have to bag the bike and get boobies instead!  oh well - good thing i enjoy boobies.
