Anyone know a source for a reverse relay? I'm thinking of those Harley style marker lights that stay on all the time, but turn off when the blinker is engaged.

I'm looking to turn my fog lights into signals, since they are much brighter than the ACTUAL signals. But, that means the I need something that actually CUTS the power during signal operation.

Anyone able to point me in a direction?

Not sure what you're looking for exactly...but relays do exist that cut power from certain outputs as soon as you trigger them.
Can you explain a bit more about what you're planning to do? Do you mind fiddling around with some electronics yourself, or are you looking for a
ready-to-be-built-in solution?

What you are asking for is a "normally open" relay or a NO relay, The other type is a "normally closed" relay or NC.

and...  some relays have two load terminals - one that is normally open and one that is normally closed so you could take your pick.

You`re probably going to need two double throw single pole relays. On the NC side connect the running lights, Then to the pwr that switches the relay you will need to connect the 12v split from the energy going to the flasher relay. On the NO side connect the output of the flasher relay.

If I understand you correctly this should work. Assuming the input of the turn  signal relay is set up this way. I`m not 100%

Any source for purchase? I know I haven't seen these at the local auto parts store, but is it something that they should be able to order?

I'm pretty good with wiring and mechanics, so none of that scares me. I've built my own wiring harnesses in the past, and even my own wiper switch for a car that was so old that I couldn't find a replacement.

You should be able to find it at www.digikey.com or you can use a DPDT relay from radio shack and just use one side of it.

Your fog lights would be wired to the contacts (Staying on when the bike was on)and your turn signal out put would be wired to the coil/ control side(causing the fogs to blink when the turn signals were used). The specs are as such: 12V DC coil and a contact rating that meets the Voltage and Amp rating of the fog lights. A double pole double throw relay would combine all functions or you could wire up two separate relays (one for each side) I would look at a good auto supply shop or even a large RadioShack.

What vehicle are we talking about here? What has fog lights?

Sometimes the relay`s can`t open and close fast enough,  that is why I would wire it the other way. You should test it first to see if can open and close fast enough to be used as a blinker relay. If it can than it`ll be a lot easier to set up.
