That site looks like it's by Christy. She races in AFM, the local amateur road racing club in Northern CA.
Speaking of which, in a week and half, the AFM is starting up its first all-women's class, called AFemme. It's run-what-ya-brung, so it should be good fun to watch. Unfortunately, it's at Sears, so Elena Myers won't be there (AFIAK she's not 16 yet and the track has a strict age policy) to womp on everyone.

There are a lot of women roadracers now. Jessica Zalusky is an AMA pro who has a riding school. I'm instructing with her school this year.
Her website......
http://www.roadracinggirl.com/
I think that currently just her and Melissa paris are racing AMA. (I might be wrong)
On the club racing level, there are many.

You should contact Christie. She's totally into the racing gig and has a lot of connections. She would love to tell you about all of the women racing out there. Most of them have blogs of some sort. Just be careful--she's on a mission to get more chicks out on the grid. She's pressuring me hard to take NRS (new racers school) and have me take my FZR400 out. I *might* do NRS. I have to see if the budget allows it and if I can make the cut-off time when nervous and under pressure.

I would totally do a racing school and get into racing if time/budget allowed. I'm also in the wrong part of the country. There are not many tracks up here in the northeast.

The "school" I'm referring to is only an extra $100 tacked onto a normal trackday. There are some classroom sessions and a practical exam at the end. Even on my limited budget I can't really complain about the cost of this. I don't know if that's an option for you. There are other racer's schools which teach you to go fast--the one I reference is more like a DMV test for our local racing club that ensures that you pass minimum safety measures along with some tips.

There is no cut-off time for NRS, 'belle (unless you were talking about cut-off times for the races). You just have to show that you can keep pace (i.e. that it's not your first time on a track), take consistent lines and show that you're not dangerous or unpredictable. You'll be fine. And don't crash during NRS.

Lance (the owner of the NRS that I'm considering--for those that don't know) said that there was a cut off of 2:25 at Thunderhill (one of our local tracks also for those that don't know.) Perhaps I misunderstood. And generally I don't have too much trouble doing a 2:25 there. But I do remember you saying that there wasn't a cut-off a while ago. I'll ask him next time I see him or email.

I doubt that applies to a decades-old 400. Even Clubman qualy times for a 250 are something like 2:35ish, so they could hold that line. The number Lance gave you probably applies to a "normal" bike. If someone can't do 2:25 at T-hill on a modern, 600cc+ bike, they probably aren't ready to race. Double heck with datv and tigre (who will probably be giving you your test
). They'll confirm.

I hadn't thought about different standards being applied to different bikes. I'll check into it.
