Your best cure for this ailment may be to go ride one. Preferrably one with some miles on it because they shake, rattle and buzz just like their Harley cousins.

I rode a demo XB12 a few years ago with 8k kms on it. At idle the mirrors vibrated so much they were useless. The buzz through the bars had my hands numb in no time. Shifted like junk. Heat from the motor was enough to cook an egg. The translucent plastics look really cheap close up. It did turn in nice and quick. The brakes were smooth and powerful. Torque-y motor was good but by no means exceptional. I was very unimpressed with that bike after riding it.

I like 'em too, but I have not spent any time on them so as others have said, my opinion may have changed.

I've seen the red one in person and was impressed by the look. As far as performance,  ???
Granted, my buddy just crashed into me and the Buell stopped to help. Maybe it was the adrenaline...

I don't particularly want one, but you can like whatever you want.

I totally agree here... should have added a smilie or two to my critique above. Everyone's entitled to like whatever they want; exercise your freedom to choose. ;) As my mother always said, "that's why there's chocolate and vanilla". If the Buell turns yer crank that's cool with me.

I test rode a Ulysses last week at our local Harley open house.  Got it straight up and down in second at about 50 or so (they didn't like that).   I believe its the same engine as the XB12, and it's not a Rotax.  It's Harley, or Harley based, anyway, I think Eric Buell does something different to the engines, it's a bunch faster than a Sportster.  But it reminded me of an old Triumph that I used to have, a Bonneville, and not it a good way.  At idle the front wheel does this in and out little dance, the bars, mirrors and hand guards shake all over the place, and it's not very fast.  I suggest you ride one if you are thinking of buying one.  The Rotax engine in the 1125 is supposedly far superior to the Harley/Buell 1200.  I used to have a ATK/Rotax dirtbike, it was a single, but very well built.   And reliable, I would assume the 1125 would be, too.

Disturbed though I obviously am, I'm not so psychotic that I'm in any danger of actually wanting to own one of 'em......  Just think it looks cool, that's all.  I'll keep taking the medication....  ;)

The belt tensioner stands out like a sore thumb...and the clear tank...yuck.
Tensioner?? I thought that was its landing gear [cheeky]

As others have said, they look ok in the showroom, but those clear plastics start looking bad, quickly. Especially if it's had petrol spilled on it.

Do not pass go, do not collect $200. You head straight to the "Head mechanic" . That Buell is just wrong.

Ride what you like, screw the haters.

I've enjoyed every Buell I've ridden, despite the quirks. They're a hoot. In fact, right now I'm considering buying an immaculate, earlier tube-frame one that's got a totally built 88-inch engine in it.  [evil]

And for reference, a buddy's stock '99 1200 would spank the bejeezus out of my old M900.....and didn't require a valve check or timing belts every time you looked at it.

There are things I like about it...

I like the exhaust routing. Wish there was a way to work that on mine, but the Exbox or boomtubes seem the only options.

I like... I like that I don't have one.

Like others here, I think the older Buell bikes look better than these.
