Is DP ECU necessary w/ new exhaust?

Hope this hasn't already been asked somewhere else in the forum.  My question is this:  will a 696 run like s**t with aftermarket slip ons, without the DP ECU??  Seems like the Termi kit is the best deal around because it comes with the ECU, but I'd like to put some MIVV's on it.  I'm just afraid it won't run right without some sort of computer upgrade / re-map.  Would the 2 bro's juicebox work?  Thanks in advance.

Best advice is what do want to spend...
Slips ons normally dont need any remapping
Full systems do.

there are several threads about this. one is the semi-official 696 exhaust thread the other is the ECU thread.

basically. the slip ons, termi or other wise dont need an ecu upgrade or remap. but if you get a freeflow airfilter like the one that comes with the dp kit then you do need some type of ecu upgrade.

the dp kit is a full remap with an increase of fuel and a higher rpm limit
the juice box is basically a remapped fueling by intercepting the o2 sensor AND pumping more fuel into the injector signals.
the Powercommander V is another full ECU remapper that also intercepts the o2 sensor.

the simplest is the dp kit. but you can get cheaper slipons, the 2bros JB and a BMC filter for a lot less and get similar results. the biggest loss in that equation is the higher RPM limit.

As far as i know, the DP kit is the only one that changes the rev limiter until you purchase something like the Nemesis computers which COMPLETELY replace the stock ECU (and i don't know if they have it for the 696 yet)

edit: the 696 is kinda of cool in its layout. if you take the stock pipes off, you are getting straight pipes out, the cats are in the stock units. so  any slipons (unless you get the optional cats) make your exhaust a full freeflow exhaust with no cats.
