hey everyone,
Has anyone relocated their license plate to attached to their rear axle?  If so how does it work?   I think I can build it myself, but I am just looking for inspiration.  Thanks for the help.

depends on what you mean rear axle.... ive seen a sick design by showyomoto that uses the axel as the mounting point. it turns the license plate into a mud guard for the tire. otherwise i cant help you.

yeah that is what I am talking about using it as a mounting point.  Do you know how to embed a picture into the message?

I got about half way through building a plate mount similar to that, but have run into some snags.

2 things I don't like about that mount.

#1 look at how thick the aluminum is.  It's got to weigh 3+ lbs.  Last thing I want to do is hang weight off the back of the swingarm.

#2  I don't agree with how they have attached it to the swingarm.  Sandwiching the plate under the eccentric bolts isn't the right way to do it.  Putting a mounting stud into the hollow eccentric bolt and fastening it down that way is.

If I ever finish mine, it will have the brake light and blinker built in.  I'm sure a weight fanatic that it's hard to justify the extra ### back there when I can just as easy bolt it to the underside of the fender.

I really like the chopped rear on that and the relocator, how does the bike handle with the license plate that close to the tire.

I seriously doubt most of us here could notice a difference in the bike's handling after moving the plate

Is it just me, or are those two plate mounts COMPLETELY different? The Powerstands version looks like it is your run-of-the-mill chopper verticle mount...

Ahhh, the over the tire one is cool, but if the police are picky, they could hit you for no plate light....
