I cant remember if this was like this... the header doesnt go all the way in, and i cant find the troque spec for the copper nuts. i painted the header black, and i cant tell if im leaking exhaust there (doenst smell like it) or its the paint thats burning off. (high temp duplicolor paint). Does this look right? What are the torque specs for these copper nuts? and should there have been a gasket there (because there wasnt one before)

Can't say about the rest, but the paint is probably burning off. I have a Raytec infrared temp gun that reads to 1250F. It goes off the scale about 5 in. away from the ex. port.

Cannot remember exactly but I believe that looks correct to me.  The flange on the inside of the clamp will contact the flange on the header pipe and push on it to hold it tight.  Don't have a torque spec handy.

is there suppose to be a gasket between the header and the head?

He Man, I just did my exhaust and their was no gasket between the head and header. The header pipe should be in contact with the head for a tight seal. and the torque spec. for the nuts is 24NM.

Exhaust gasket part no. 0370.94.005...from the Ducati pdf parts file.

Every Duc uses an exhaust gasket.

Mine looked like an Aluminum ring.

Yours could be stuck to the head still.

Duc Soho didn't put a gasket on mine when they installed my ExBox post crash.  And I wondered why I had such a bad exhaust leak until Steve & Jay pulled the exhaust and put a proper gasket on.  I was told by Duc Soho "that's just what a full system sounds like" when I complained about the constant backfiring.

i got down and dirty, went in there commando style with a pick, couldn't find one. the exahust was previously removed by a dealership when they did my exahust guides under warranty (the bike is still leaking oil around that area, it seems like they just didnt do much except put it back together and held onto it for 5 weeks). maybe they left it out. Ill hit up ca-cycleworks and try to throw one onto my order.

Ok, so you took the bike in to fix the leaking guides.  Not only are they still leaking but they also left your gasket off?  Do you have any intention of doing something about the poor service?  Did you pay them for their "work"?

Bad valve guides don't cause an external oil leak.

Well that's what I was thinking too but if they did the work and left an exhaust gasket off and did anything else to the bike like perhaps fixing the guide problem maybe they left off the valve cover gasket or reused the old one.  Shoddy work is shoddy work and if they do something stupid in one place there is a good possibility they did elsewhere too.
