...not quite far enough.
~25mi of rural with a little stop and go.
temps near 60, just added 14t front sprocket (whole 'nother thread but as others note it's the way the
bike should be).
I was just over a mile outside of town - luckily all downhill except for a couple ducwalk stretches, and pushing it across the gas station parking lot.
Put 3.5gal in the tank, so maybe the reserve light was just short of 3.5L?
Still computing my MPG, mostly sub25F commutes in the AM so not a true measure yet.

What's typical reserve range - this is a new to me 05 620 9500mi.

I think your experience of ~25 miles is typical for a Monster's range after the yellow light comes on.  That's about how far I went before I ran outta gas, too.   [laugh]

One running-out-of-gas experience was enough for me.  Now, I just reset my trip odo every time I fill the tank.  I add gas after I've traveled 120 miles, regardless of whether the yellow light is on.

FWIW, as I recall, when I had to push my old s4r to the gas station it took 3.5 gal also.

I have performed this test twice on my '01 900.  First time:  Spirited riding in fast twisties(having fun with a porsche).....32 mi.

Second time:  Knew I was pushing the limit and tried to nurse it home......24 mi.  Both fill ups took 4.3 gal  8)

Oh yea I forgot to mention that...

It does come on sometimes but its not reliable.
Just reset the trip meter every time you fill up.

Work out how many miles you get per tank and watch your trip counter.

yeah - I need to gas up BEFORE it goes 196 miles. I try to hit around 180 or sooner.

A little trick to squeeze out another few miles if you run out of gas....

Stop the bike
take off the seat
lift the gas tank up as far as you can and wiggle it back and forth a little
start bike
look for gas station.

I have done this twice.  The last time I got about 2 miles extra out of the tank.  Enough to get me to a gas station.

I get about the same mileage on my 620.  I usually gas up at 150-160 miles and put in 2.8 to 3.0 gallons.  That compute to about 50-53 MPG.

23+ during break in. Interesting tip on lifting tank, hopefully I will never have to use it. I do know that you can pee in the radiator...wait-that's a movie.

Plus you don't have a radiator. [cheeky]

Yeah.. I did that too.  I was trying to get my tank as low as possible to install battery tender leads... 1mile away from my house and it starts spitting... it was also a very dark night....  Pushed it home, and didn't get hit by a car.

I will not push my luck like that again.  I actually got more in the 35 mile range (696)
