Need help finding insurance co. of guy who hit me

I was stopped at a crosswalk last night and got rear ended by someone. (in front of a school! Children in the crosswalk!) Me and the bike are messed up, but will live to ride again. I'd rather not get into details online because I've heard that's not too bright. However, his insurance company is called Victory Fire. I can't locate it and would rather not call him. Anyone familiar with it? This is in SoCal.

So I'm assuming since you have that info that you exchanged information with him at the accident?

I hope didnt hand you a card for Victory "Fire Insurance," and you mistook it for "Victory Fire" Insurance.
You should try and call that phone number and make sure it actually works... Hope you got his plate.

police did, i was being checked out by EMTs at the time

I don't know where you live but here in Texas you can get a copy of the crash report after a few days. It has all the information on there.

Police reports here in NJ only contain the Ins. Co. 3-5 digit ID #, but not the name of the co.  You have to get that on your own at the time of the accident.  Call your Ins. Co. and give them all of the details, let them do the work for you.
If you can see Chuck Norris, he can see you.  If you can't see Chuck Norris, you may be only seconds away from death.

You just give your insurance company the police report number. You should not have to do anything else.

Why? Give the other guy's ins co a chance to make it right. Especially since the lawyer is gonna take 1/3 regardless of the award...

other guy's insurance tries to settle for as little as possible.   victim's insurance shouldn't even be called.   After being involved with a close friend's claim when she got hit I wouldn't do anything without an attorney if the vehicle has more than a grand worth of damage and I am at injured (like one trip to the doctor level).   It was complicated and very technical.  Any calls to the insurance company started with stating it was not ok to record the call, which triggered a moment on hold before that was complied with.   The initial offer by the other insurance company even to the lawyer was less than 1/10th the final outcome.

As an attorney I would not feel comfortable doing it on my own without someone who specializes in accidents locally.     Most I have seen get as much or more money even after the lawyer takes the large chunk.

My insurance agent has always told me that I have to report accidents within 24 or 48 hrs. Are there any consequences to me if I get hit and don't call my insurance, but just deal with the other guy's insurance or get me a lawyer?
