What is common sense for some is the unknown for others, and vice a versa.  Would you have the same common sense as a Ducati engineer or a heart surgeon?

Back to the original problem.  I think the high pressure water had something to do with it.  Like others have said, something in the clutch lever assembly or you got water or air in the system.

No, the electricals ARE NOT waterproof against pressurized water @120+psi ("I did wash the bike today and the spray was the most intense I have ever seen at a car wash") but you may test your bike to prove your point

You're right, but you said the electricals are not waterproof. They are, but they have their limits, just like everything...

The correct term is water resistant, not water proof.  Water proof implies you can submerge the part in question.

FYI to all those that helped I figured I'd post an update.

After sitting in the garage for 3 days, a friend that knows plenty about motorcycles, came over to take a look.

Fired the bike up, put it in gear, and shizahm.... no problems.

I'd take a guess that there was water someplace it shouldn't have been IE electronics... once it dried out it fixed itself.

Anyways - I avoided the 12 hours of driving to and from the Ducati dealership, and won't be power washing my bike again.
Nice bike man.

Yeah, it eats babies.

Speeddog

Take it for a ride and see if the clutch still works when the motor gets hot.

Raux

i got caught in a rainstorm the hother day, now have this problem. i think what it is... the bolt that holds the clutch lever is greaseless and causing it to stick.

BomberHead

i had this problem, aswell as a lot more 696 owners. take it back to where you got it..there is a fix for it. it will be covered under warranty.

Raux

tell me more about the fix, i'm 4000 miles from where i bought my bike. and there's a language barrier here.

Raux

fixed my problem.

tightened the nuts underneath too much.

loosened them up. problem fixed. no more sticking.
