nah, its the kukri gold plate. Apparently speedymoto pressure plates wont work with the desmotimes light weight piece.

however, when the posts snapped it took a piece of the clutch plate with it, it looks like it was dropped on the concrete.

droolling over this thing. Titanium posts that are replaceable.

isn't that how most of my threads are?   ;D

Let me give you the rundown

1) Clutch post snaps from stupid mistake
2) I just saved a bunch of money from switching to progressive (actually only $12 bucks)
3) Pictures of my clutch posts being snapped off

Oh and the red is ducati 749s in my garage. [evil] unfortunely not mine :( and also with a bent posts on its slipper clutch.

i'm just really surprised the post snapped off!

Order from VeeTwo directly, and you'll save a ton of money. Just a headsup.

i checked their website and tried to request a quote their servers all fubar and giving me error messeages so i just sent a direct email.

also 1USD = 1.384AUD so yea i should be saving a significant bunch if shipping and tax wont offset it.

I thought about how common it is to break a posts....and this is just a freak accident, and if i go down, i doubt id snap a post since i have the thicker pressure plate + clutch cover. and yea, im suprised it just snapped off. it would be one thing if it bent. i guess thats what happens when the bike is on lol

I'd run with 4 springs and watch Ebay for a replacement hub although (as pointed out above) many people like and leave it with only 4 springs. Whenever your clutch is apart, shuffle the pack and deglaze the drive plates.

I think it is more likely that you over torqued one of the bolts and cracked the post.  Then while it was running the post broke off losing the spring, reatiner, and bolt.  If the bolt fell out first, there is no way the post would get broken off.

+1. There'd be no stress nor any contact to the post. Its skinny enough that it won't contact the holes of the pressure plate really, even under "play" of a worn basket.

And the 4-spring clutch works great on my 900, never slipped, and i've got thousands of mile on it, rain and shine.

Speeddog

I've seen the aftermath on two bikes when a bolt come loose.

They slowly back out until the spring retainer catches on the cover, then it snaps the post off.

I don't think you could put enough torque on the 5mm bolt to snap the post.
Lots of folks have tried, and all that happened is they snapped the head off of the bolt.

Makes sense.  I was thinking no cover since the parts fell out.
