Integrated brake and tail light

I am trying to pick out some new turn signals for a tail chop on my 07 S2R1000 and came across this:

It looks like it could be a good solution, but is rather expensive.  The integrated tail lights seem to be illegal for the most part because of not having a separate turn signal.  To me this seems to eliminate that.  However, that one row of LEDs for a brake light is not confidence inspiring.  Actually, the whole thing doesn't look like it gets very bright.

Overall thoughts?  Anyone seen one in real life?  Legal opinions on integrated brake and turn signals?

lots of folks are using the integrated brake/signal LED set up, myself included. i have the clear alternatives LED version, and while i wish it was more visible to the sides, over all i am happy with it. there are better ($$) options out there i believe.
as far as legal........that depends on if/how your bike gets an annual inspection, and whether or not the person doing the inspection knows what is "not" street legal.

same for getting stopped by the police. its all going to depend on how much they know about the model of bike, and the specific DOT rules for signal spacing, etc....

Vizi Tec rocks.  It uses more LEDs than the Clear Alternative and is much better quality.  You can also get it with an integrated flasher.

Bernard frequents the site and makes them by hand.  I switched from a Clear Alternatives light and don't regret the extra $$ spent.

I have been running the Clear Alternatives LED board for 2+ years without an issue.
I did hear some talk about how the LED's would die due to vibration so I went the extra step and incase the bases of them with some high temp silicone before installing, and have yet to have one fail.

I do plan to add some small led boards to the sides/back of lens to increase my turning presence once I get my bike back in my hands. I am all about less is more but I also ride in the city of Chicago  ...

Just a thought for a turn signal mod:  If you don't want to run an integrated brake light and turn signals, AND if you've done the tail chop...what about using the open end of the frame to put some turn signals in? 

I have the Vizi-Tec integrated brake light and turn signals, otherwise I might have attempted this.

I remember reading about Vizi-tech and Bernard, thanks for the link to refresh my memory.  I really like the way his setup looks, especially with his bracket and a tail chop.

I just checked the legality of turn signals and whatnot for NC, where I'm moving in about 6 weeks, and there are no requirements.  However, I think where I work might have more stringent requirements.  I'll have to look into it.  If it looks like the integrated setup will pass muster I think I am going to go the vizi-tech route.  It is hard to beat good engineering.

With respect to his license plate holder and a tail chop, it looks like it is easy to install, but where are people sourcing some nice black plugs to cover up the holes in the frame?

Check out Heavy Cycles. Silly name, but an incredibly bright tail and stop light. They are built to order,  by hand, in california. Motowheels sells them or you can get them direct. I have the integrated turn signal version on the monster, and the non-integrated on my 999. In fact, some have said, that at night, the brake light is "almost too bright".
