Happy Anniversary DMF

Le Pirate

I remember watching the old board go down in flames that night. I was sitting in the office trying to figure out where I would waste my time on the internet when the TOB was gone  [laugh]

It was the craziest thing to watch the mass exodus of all these friends I had made, that I had never actually met.

Thankfully someone PM'ed me the new address that night as a fleeting attempt to save the community. And here we are  [moto]

The exodus was as organized as we could make it really...

Little notice, a fledgling DMF not really ready for the amount of traffic, a confused few Flounders who knew that the lifeboat existed...just not whether it would evolve into the battlecruiser that would actually rival the mighty DML in just one short year.

Glad to be part of it I am...  [thumbsup]  [drink]  [bacon]

I didn't realize the board is only one year old.

Napoleon Dynamite Voice: It's only like the best place on the internet.

But I have to say it makes me a bit nervous to see that there is maintenance being performed on the anniversary. I'm scared the board might come back up with google ads for motorcycle dating services.

Someone please reassure me this won't happen.  :-\

El Matador

Wow, I can't believe it's been a year already. About 11 months and 15 days ago I was watching a movie about Hitler while lamenting the death of my favourite site...

Does this mean we will double celebrate anniversary of DMF when we celebrate our 1-yr in a couple weeks? I think it does!  [beer] even if we did meet on TOB

LA

I remember when I asked WTF was happening with TOB and was told something was up, but I can't tell you about it.  Felt like the proverbial and untrustworthy red headed step child.

Don't remember how I finally found the new board and wondered if I was really welcomed.  It's not paranoia if they're really out to get ya. :'(

It's good to be here though [coffee] and now here, I ain't leaving peaceably - DucPainter will have to pull the plug. ;D

And it never hurts to have something other than Mexican independence to celebrate.

As if I really need a reason to drink Monte Alban Mezcal - makes a mean Margarita in a 20 oz water glass.  [thumbsup]

Happy birth day Y'all,  [beer]  [wine] [clap]

Happy almost B'day DMF. No experience with TOB but when I found you'al here last June I knew my new love for Duc's was abundant here and born in a history that was full with many venues and good characters. I raise my glass of Evan Williams to you'al and wish you  [bacon] forever!

Rival the DML?  That's the funniest thing I've heard all day. This battlecruiser blows it out of the water. I have been banned like 5 times on the old board. What was that one guys name that had a hard on for Nate?  Silent Bob and I had quite a bit of fun with him. Good times.

I'd say (my opinion) that we've equaled the DML in a lot of respects and for such a short time...we're CERTAIN to blow *all* the DML's stats completely out of the water eventually.  But, (again my opinion) I don't think we're there quite yet....but it's early yet...and I share your enthusiasm!  [thumbsup]

I agree that the DMF has equaled or suprassed the DMF in most respects. I will say that I hope the topic of stats never comes up again. A community couldn't care less about the stats. An owner with a business model does and we have already lived through that.

Oh and a "state of the DMF" report that Statler mentioned long ago would be good. Might encourage another round of needed (or not) capital.

superjohn

I find it sort of amazing that a community of enthusiasts dedicated to an esoteric brand that hasn't been a sales leader could not only form, but also display a huge loyalty not only to their chosen brand and model, but to one another. It would be completely predictable for such radical and forced changes to the structure of the community to lead to its dissolution or fracture, but this community miraculously picked up and moved en masse.

I'm very happy to be a part of this community and thank the Flounders for having the ambition and foresight to facilitate this gathering place. Here's to another year and more with many new friends and informative, irritating, irreverent, and downright funny posts.  [beer]

Happy Anniversary  [thumbsup]

I guess I was basing my opinion on the amount of active members we have here. I would think that would be way more than TOB.   [beer]
