I suspect that woe may be fixable with an aftermarket ECU and exhaust..... such as most Ducati's go.

agreed.  I asked the very same question of the Magnificent Mulleted one at the store when I got mine, and he says that most Ducatis will run lean at the 3.5/4k-6k range, since the ECU is mapped that way to run lean at highway speeds, which coincindentally happens to be the same rev range used for EPA testing.......

The moral of the story....even the SBKs run lean, so you are not alone.
