The train took out two cows this morning outside of San Felipe, turning one into ground beef, & launching the other up & over a ditch/arroyo that was a good 50 yards. Not quite the one that jumped the moon, but pretty impressive.
Anyone down for hamburgers for lunch?

Randimus will be back in the ABQ next week. Monday & Tuesday evenings.
Plumber - I had your t-shirt on my last visit and forgot to give it to you.
I'll bring it with again.

I need a new career. I'm good at fixing cars, I'm just sick of doing it for a living. Its turned one of my lifelong hobbies into something I loathe doing. It drives me even more crazy that I don't have any clue what I'd actually enjoy doing at this point.
Guess its time to search the ol internet and do some soul searching and see how I can get out of this business, and Where I'd end up going from there. /Rant over.

As a guy who turned wrenches for a living, then went "back to school" to get an engineering degree....then worked his way through a masters' while working for a living, let me say that you can do whatever you set your mind to. Let me know if you'd like advice on specific career paths.....I'm pretty good at that kinda crap.
Don't let 'em get you down, Wayne. It ain't easy, but it's worth the struggle......life, that is.

Well, I know I don't frequent the board a lot and probably a whole lot of the high desert hooligans don't remember me but I met the gang last year to get my t-shirt and get back to work before they missed me. Had the dark 696 and met the mouse and hp and kawboy and some of the others in the 5 minutes I had to chat at Wild wings.
Anyhoo, I crashed the Blackbird on June 16th. Had her slowed down to about 40 when the front locked up and I high-sided at the base of the Sandia Mtns. Totalled the bird, black plastic everywhere, antifreeze and gasoline littering the street. She's dead and going to a buddy in Texas who makes quads out of them...
I broke my fibula and just got out of the cast and am back at work. Gear definitely saved my life. My helmet took the first impact and the road made some nice grinding of the kevlar or whatever was under the paint. Face shield got some grinding too. I pulled my boots off before the paramedics got there and saved them, lol. They cut off everything else.
Best guess is that I hit a patch of sand just before I was going to let go of the brake and start the turn. Locked the front tire and got pitched. Just as I started the downhill run I was just thinking I probably should get new tires, the old ones kinda looked like this...
\__|\__|---|__/|__/
The rear tire of course didn't cause it, but I was pretty sure that I needed new tires and I probably shouldn't be pushing her too hard until I got them replaced.
I got the clean bill of health Wednesday and went to see See Steve and determined I can shift, albeit painfully. I'm down to my old GPZ550 as my only bike which I guess I will trade in for another Duc when I can squeeze my swollen ankle back into my boots.
So, TOSAT, y'all be safe out there and wear your gear. Also, if you are able to stay conscious when the paramedics arrive, keep them laughing and they might be kind enough to take pictures of the carnage with your cell phone while they strap you to a back board.
PS... Don't pass out or they take you to UNMH. They left me in road gravel for hours, even thru x-ray and getting wheeled to my little room waiting for the bone doc to put the splint on my leg so I could leave. When my gf got there I told her I had a present for her and handed her a pile of gravel I picked out of my bed. They are quite liberal with the application of morphine though

Holy crap that sounds like quite a mess! I'm glad you are coming back to the "in one piece" state of being. I also crashed up on the crest, but did end up being helicopered to UNMH (and I remember none of it, or the following week) I hope the rest of the healing process goes well for you and you're able to ride comfortably again sometime soon! and yes... Proper gear saves lives!!

Hey..ain't that a common feeling with any profession...? I always wonder, with all the technology and growth, we still have a system of slavery and everyone needs to work for a living...we seldom get to do what we want to do...Shouldn't our goal be to get rid of the slavery to money?
Have you considered going to school to get a specialized degree in something you like? My specialization in fluid dynamics is very diverse and has significant opportunities...I have been considering a PhD in Imperial College, London in Race vehicle aerodynamics for ages...Wish I could afford it! I have had to sit and think on what I like to do many times in my career...One time, it was through a long 4-day motorcycle trip to CO from OH! Wish you the best friend!
