Just bought an '09 Monster 1100. Debating whether to get the Termignoni slip-ons.
Has anyone put them on an '09 Monster yet?

The real question is whether to use the Search button or not!!   [laugh]

I'm pretty sure there are nearly a dozen 696 owners (who post regularly) with Termis, and a handful of 1100s with Termis.  One post yesterday if memory serves.   :)

If you can personally justify spending the money and have it in your heart to really get the Termi's then go ahead.

There are two mind sets IMO when it comes to Termignoni systems for the 696/1100.

1. You have a Ducati therefore you MUST get the Termi system.

2. Screw it, I'm not spending the $$$$$$$$ when other inexpensive yet quality built slip-ons sound the same...

With that said, no one has really dyno'd before and after the Termi system (slip ons, ECU, air filter) and can't truly verify the performance gain from the complete package other than the "seat of the pants" feel..
If you personally have, post before and after dyno's. :)

I actually did search, but used Termignoni instead of "termi". Newbie mistake :-\
With "termi" I found much more info.
Thanks for the reply!

The search function is only navigable by derby.

Don't be discouraged. ;D

I'm getting them in about two weeks, just put the order in tonight.  My 1100 will be ready then for my 600 mile tune-up.  That and a 14 tooth gear are a necessity in my mind.

Alligator,

That is almost exactly what I am thinking of doing. I bought the 1100 last Sunday & won't have it until next week...I live in Hawaii and it has to ship from another island to me. I'm thinking of putting the 600 miles on and shipping it back to the dealer for the Termi exhaust install. I'm undecided yet on the 14t gear. I've read a lot about it, but figure to put some miles on and make may own decision.

I'd really like to hear how  you like the mods after the install.

Thanks

Derby - 1. n. longtime member of DMF and DML before that. Has beyond photographic memory. 2. v. to post something which has been posted previously, however obscurely or long ago.

Since you live in Hawaii and don't need to worry about the possible smog testing of motorcycles, I say go for the full termis! Wicked sound! [thumbsup]My buddy rode my bike the other day so I can actually hear it...now I know why dogs bark at me.  [evil]

I'm afraid the full race termis would be too loud.  The Harleys with the straight pipes annoy me. Especially when a rider (wearing shorts, flip-flops, tank top, and NO HELMET) told me that, "loud bikes save lives". Harleys are great, I've had two. But straight pipes on them are obnoxious

I love the Ducati sound, rumbly, throaty, and powerful. Does the full race termi enhance that or is it simply a question of volume?

On this island there are almost no Ducatis around, so I can't simply talk to other local owners (and listen to their motorcycles).

For the regular street riding I use my '09 696 for, the stock exhaust works well enough for me where there isn't any reason to spend a $900-$1000 for some slip-ons.

The extra performance the Termis may bring is not a big deal for me, at this time, and I surely would not pay that kind of money just for the sound.

Making payments on my 696, I rather use that $1,000 towards paying off my bike and worrying about aftermarket exhausts later.

If I had that kind of cash to throw around, then sure, yeah, I'd get some Termis, Leo Vince or whatever other make

lwszabo

if you are getting an exhaust go with the Termi, but get the ECU. I think they are well worth the extra $ in the end.

^^ That's what I was getting at.. Besides the scrolling "M 696/1100 Racing", raised rev limiter, and increased fuel (I think), how much is bike really gaining? I've yet to see proof on the 696/1100. I know dynos vary from place to place and according to conditions but at least we can get an idea of gains besides what people feel on the butt dyno.
Is it REALLY worth the $1300+ (if you go with carbon)??
