Actually, while riding a motard, that is the body position you want.

I mean, just look at Xaus

or Hayden

I know he's struggling now, but Nicky Hayden is one damn fine rider.  Do you remember the Hayden Brothers a few years ago at the Springfield Grand National TT when they lapped up to about 5th place, against all the GNC regulars?  Outstanding.  I think he will get used to the Duc and come back to the front of MotoGP.   We'll see.

Man, this thread has come pretty full circle.   First crappy riders.   Then helmets.  And then, I brought up racial slurs.  And now, Nicky Hayden.

Jeez... what happened to this thread?!? I was planning on trying to convince corndog that his "my expensive helmet is better than a cheap squid helmet" argument is a classic example of a squid mindset and lo and behold.... this thread went bonkers!!! Now I contend... The "I wear what the pros wear" argument is ridiculous because,
1. Pros don't REALLY CARE about the brand of helmet they wear in a race so long as it protects their head and...
2. Pros do REALLY CARE about the brand of helmet they wear in a race because they are PAYED to wear it.
ALSO, by using this argument one must assume that when you get in your car to go to the store you put on a nomex fire suit and 5 point harness because the race car drivers wear it... (the guys who get PAYED to drive.) Seems a ridiculous argument to me. Personally I don't care WHAT brand helmet someone wears so long as it keeps their skull intact if they crash. Besides, did the squid in the photos suffer from a head injury? No. He hopefully learned a hard lesson and will wear proper gear from now on. However, some people never learn.

Only if the argument is "I wear what the pros at anything wear." Then you would have to dress like a prostitute sometimes.

But who gets paid to go to the store to buy food, anyway? ...so dress like kitchen staff.

Regardless, it is safer to wear the nomex suit and use the harness, even if you are just going to the store...

I bought a pair of Danner Firemans boots that I think are Nomex lined, at an estate sale, so I guess I'm sort of set up.   A dead guys boots.   But they were almost brand new.
