Throttle issue, or something else?

Noticed a weird issue with my '03 620 recently.  Occasionally, on the last two longer rides I've done, the bike will "pause" when trying to accelerate.  It doesn't stall, or lose power, but if I twist the throttle, it stays right at the same speed.  Changing gears doesn't seem to affect it, and it only lasts a few seconds, and then back it's all back to normal.  I use the bike to commute, and haven't noticed it when riding around town, just when out in the country on weekend rides.  Bike has just under 10K miles, stock semi-cored exhaust (just chopped the ends of chamber three off), recent oil change.

2 things

1) Hesitation on acceleration is a sign of the bike running a little lean. You dont have an open airbox do you?

2) Might get a valve adjust done.

Airbox is stock, no mods made, but I'll see if everything's secure...I recently checked the valves myself, but it was the first time I've done it, so I could have been off...Sounds like might be worth double-checking or paying to have someone else do it.

So I got a chance to discuss the issue with a Ducati mechanic, and he suggested fuel filter...he mentioned that if it were a valve issue, it would be happening all the time, instead of just every so now and then.

I've got some of that going on right now on my 900. Driving me crazy. I should check when I last had my valves adjusted.

Is your issue constant, or sporadic.  Mine seems a little tricky to diagnose, since it only happens every now and then.

erkishhorde

Sporadic. The thing that is bothering me the most is that I've done almost everything. Fuel filter, fuel pump, almost all the fuel hoses. You'll be having lots of fun if you get to my level where the bike will sputter out and die like it's out of gas.  [roll]

This is getting weird.  I suspect a fuel system issue....maybe?  Rode the bike home just now, and when in nuetral, the tach showed 0 rpm!  Obviously not the case, since the engine was going.  When I twisted the throttle, though, the needle kicked up, as usual.  It's definitely running odd now, with less power, but still enough for the highway.  Got it home, turned it off, turned it back on, and it idled normal for a bit, then dropped down a little.  Picked up the tank to look for leaks, still running, and the idle kicked up a little...sounded normal.
