Anybody know the history of this bike, the guy selling it does not appear to be the original owner, I asked him if the tail was chopped. The answer was less than forthright

what a silly question, the tail was obviously chopped.

The answer seemed a little evasive. The picture is so small I can't tell, but it looks chopped. I am toying with the idea of getting a second S4RS, but I am really anti frame cutting

I guess you're right I looked at it again since it does not protrude past the tail light housing

NAKID

There is no way that isn't chopped. With the beer tray (plastic) removed, the metal frame extends about 8-10 past the end of the taillight...

Yes now it is painfully obvious, I also notice it appears there is no plate

Autostrada Pilot

Fantastic looking bike.  It's my second favorite color (Titanium with red frame is my favorite).

1999 Monster 900 City - Sold

After 7 years of Monsters, I'm sadly bikeless right now.

Go look and see.   If it isn't what you want, walk away.

Not to be an ass, but from the pics posted if you asked me if it was chopped, I prolly woulda given you a weird answer too. Not to be evasive but I woulda figured you didn't really know what you were talking about or what you were looking at. Either way the reason woulda been to save myself the head-ache and time of educating someone when all I really wanted to do was move a bike.

Remember there is a lot of BS responses to a CL add. I usually try to weed out the BS and look for the peeps who seem to know and understand what I am offering. I usually price my stuff at a price that's fair and if you are knowledgable you'll see that, and not dick around.

From the price the guy is asking I could guess perhaps he's like me. If so go see him with cash in hand. Don't waste his time, yes or no is really all that is needed.

I'm in san diego, email me some pics. va122 at hotmail dot com

I saw the S4r and it's got some (Lot) miles on it, and looks like it was dumped too. Nice guy though
If you're going to walk on thin ice you might as well dance.

Got a second reply, which explains the first answer I got, The guy took the bike in trade for a hot-rod he was selling. The title is "in the mail" coming real soon from the DMV

BTW I was hoping someone here may have known the history of the bike which is why I posted

I'll probably go check it this weekend

So you went to look at the bike in the craig's list add? (Tony?) When you say a lot of miles, do you remember what they were. The add says 10K miles, I have more than that on my S4RS
