even i wouldn't do that. I am a motorcyclist first and foremost. i have had on occasion been snubed by riders of other brands but i have yet to have that kind of reaction from a ducati rider. i wouldn't even do that to bad kitty if i saw her. even though she rides a 696 she still is a motorcyclist and it still is a ducati, sort of

I always talk to riders. I came into the office one day and a chick was sitting at security waiting to have an interview, and she had her helmet on her lap. I asked her what she rode... and she blew me off. Turns out it was a Ninja 250. But I figured she was nervous about the interview... or thought I was being a perv and trying to pick up on her. Oh well.

I have trouble hearing people talk when I have my helmet on. I had an attendant say something to me about my bike the other week, I say "I'm sorry what did you say?" Then he repeats it again without talking louder and I still can't hear the guy so I just kinda nodded. Probably looked like an idiot but whatever. Had I heard what he was saying I would have carried on a conversation like I usually do with anyone talking about bikes. To the OP, maybe that was something like your case.

Later that ride "Gixxer McSquid" as someone here put it pulls up next to me at a light. He didn't really have much to say when I tried to start a conversation. I don't think its because I wasn't on a ricer but because the guy didnt really have anything to talk about and is an "owner" not a 'rider' which was brought up here before. Light changes he proceeds to pull away, later pops the front wheel up a few times in traffic (wouldn't call it a wheely). I hang back a few cars...

Some people are so full of themselves it's pathetic.
I've run into a few snobs in my 30 years of motorcycling myself.
Although it probably isn't bike specific,  I've noticed it more from BMW and HD riders than anyone else.

I've met a very few Ducati snobs, but I've found they seem to be more the exception than the rule.

In "pre-renaissance" version of myself, I've enjoyed taking them down a notch or two.

These days I just smile and turn my head.

The wreck I just had was pretty funny.  All the EMT people and firemen were like "Ducati, that's a nice bike".  I corrected them and said "WAS a nice bike"  I sat and chatted with them about it and bikes while they fiddled with my foot.

The police officer asked who made the bike and one of the fireman said "Ducati", she then asked "who makes that" and in unison me and the fireman responded "Ducati".

Then on the ride to the hospital me and the EMT talked bikes and were talking about him looking at a Ducati tourer.  He had a Harley and just didn't like it and had been looking at them for awhile.

... I'm totally cool with my friends saying "You remember when William bit it?!  That was awesome!  How do you explode in a fireball while being crushed under a waterfall?!  I don't think I'll beat that..."

+1 unfortunately.

Two weeks ago, I was out riding my mountain bike with a buddy. Stopped in a small tourist town and Lo - there was a beautiful S4R parked outside a cafe. I had a look, noticed he had a novel clutch cover with clear case... was busily trying to work out the brand (Rizoma) when he and his pals turned up, no doubt wondering who this guy with a pushbike was.

I said "Oh, heh, nice S4R - I've got an S4, just looking at your sweet clutch cover." BOOM, nuff said, all was cool. Spent the next 20mins talking bikes.

That's the way it should be.

Hey, I think that was me......I was there with an ST3 and Bonnieville. I had a chat to an ST3 owner in a country town on the weekend, who pulled over to check out the 2 Monsters parked (yes we stopped for coffee again) He gave us some good advice on the local roads. Always nice to have a chat  [thumbsup]

Spider

yeah and when he told us about the local roads and one was 'sand, but you'll be OK - I made it through' the guy looked as tough as nails....I was thinking it was going to look like the planet Luke Skywalker grew up in...Tunisia! Turns out it was a couple bits of sand on the ground...I was picturing Ewan McGregor in 'long way down'!

And that bloke did not look like a cafe racer, but Dos and I said hi and started to chat....we'll both chat to anyone!

You may meet the most interesting people riding a Honda, but you met some cool ones on a Ducati  [thumbsup]

Too bad.. There are jerks everywhere.. Luckily I have only received compliments.. even from guys riding ricers.. Everyone knows that they are in front of something SPECIAL when they see a Ducati.  It is hard to be a jerk even after people are jerk to you.. assuming you aren't a jerk already... so I don't think I would have come back at that tricolor A#% H%^&... and you don't have to.. why play his game? You are the bigger person by all means by not letting this bother you more than past that day. He is not worth it..  [moto] [thumbsup]

lets  be sensible and realistic there are awholes all over the place we can not do anything about that.  Enjoy your ride and what you have even if someone is being a douche bag.  Who cares life is too short to worry about how some awhole felt.  I understand what you are saying but f it.  You know.  I used to be that way about the moto salute while riding but I learned either your cool or you are douche bag, so if you are a rider those are the categories you are placed in in my book no matter what you choose to ride.
