I hate to say this, but give Progressive a call.
I ditched them for my car insurance... but i just can't beat their price on my bike, no matter where i look.
I'm 23 (started coverage when i just turned 22), it's my first bike, and i DO have a speeding ticket AND an accident on my record.
$42/month for FULL coverage. I'm talking Collision, Comprehensive, Liability, Medical, and $3000 worth of Gear/Accessories protection.
Cheaper than limited liability on my Dodge Neon...
I don't understand it, and never will... It's all arbitrary IMO.

Wow, I have no idea why they would quote me over $1800 a year for full coverage. I was 30 at the time, no tickets or accidents...

i have used progressive for every bike i have ever insured (over almost 20 years of riding)
their rates have always been the best i could get.

but we'll see how it works out, now that i have to submit my first ever claim...

When getting quotes, you might want to look into how much they will cover for aftermarket stuff.  My insurance will cover up to $2000 over for add ons.  As long as I keep documentation / reciepts.

Yep, every time.

I've used Geico, Progressive and am now with Allstate.

It seems like every time I look there's some other company offering lower rates. I have everything with Allstate though so that helps I'm sure.

I'm 21 as well (in NYC) and riding street for 3 years now, I have an S2R 1000 (2007)

Dairy land 2 years ago wanted 4,500 a year for full coverege, and now wants $3500
Progressive, who i just switched to wants 1600 for full coverege, which isnt that bad but im not willing to pay for that. Libility and comp is only 900.

However, i am more worried about my bike getting stolen then me crashing it into something. I think the chance of it geting stolen is probably 10x higher then me totaling the bike. i have a shit clean record since i got my drivers license when i was 16 and motorcycle when iw as 18.

So get liability + theft. You don't have to get full insurance just to cover theft

Get lojack. It was like 800 bucks. One time fee, you can pay it off in parts. If your bike gets stolen and they cant's find it/find it before it's in parts, they pay you the amount of money you paid for the bike.

Yes, full coverage here. bike is paid for but a little spill can cost as much as 1 years insurance.

I just have 3rd Party at the moment, after a great deal of searching I found comprehensive cover for about $800, and 3rd Party Fire & Theft for $530. Not sure whether I'm willing to pay the extra $300 for comprehensive, especially since my excesses are so huge ($350 standard, plus $300 young rider excess, plus $250 inexperienced rider excess, and a $500 theft excess). I do want theft coverage for my bike though (the thing that worries me most) so I'll be getting the 3rd party fire and theft at least.

Just not sure whether it's worth paying the $800 for comprehensive, for a bike that's only worth $7,000 anyway.
