so the whole texas thing has me thinkin'...

alot people think hawaii is another country. do they think the same of AK, too?

I would say no, and my guess is that is most likely attributed to being part of North America.

The real answer is, "There would have to be people in AK for anyone to care."  cheeky

S. Africa, awesome  waytogo
how far is that from capetown?
is there a ducati dealer there?
i'm going to capetown on the 1st week of july, then johannesburg for a few days on a safari!
i'm so excited, this will be my first time in africa! can one rent a ducati in capetown?

It`s about 1400 kilometers from Cape Town
Cape Town is at the southern most tip of Africa, I know the dealer manageress there well, could maybe hook you up.
If you come to Johannesburg you will come in at The OR Tambo International Airport, which is 10 minutes from my house, maybe have a couple a beers at The main Ducati dealership in South Africa if you want or show you some specials built at my local dealer in Edenvale by Moto Frisoli. waytogo

No, I was in Antarctica from October 99 to October 00.  I didn't get the Duc until 2007.  It would have been tricky to fit the 620 in the two bags which was all they allowed us for personal gear anyway.  And I'm not sure how well it would have run on JP-8, which is all they had for gas.  And I'm positive I couldn't have kept it under 25mph all year. (station speed limit, if they caught you speeding too many times they fire you and send you home.)

hey troubled bear, i'd love to meet you man and see some african ducs!
the company i'm working for over there will be handling my transportation from capetown to johannesburg. i didn't realize it was so far as i thought we were driving there but i'm sure we'll fly in. and if you've got any connections, it would be great to rent a duc for a day and maybe you can show me some sights  [moto]

i'll keep you posted...
