HELP ME PLEASE! Bike will not turn off!

bike in question - 01 M750 carb'd.  started her up for work (everything fine), rode to work, parked (kick stand up, bike in neutral), proceeded to turn the key to kill the bike and she stayed on.  It sounds like the starter is stuck.  I tried the kill switch (did nothing) and i checked the stater button (which i know sometimes sticks but its not).  I pulled the seat off and yanked out the starter fuse and master fuse and the damn thing kept turning.  Then i lifted the tank and detached the ground from the battery which finally killed her. 

Any thoughts?  ignition? starter?  Please help...

You can see the 2 cables going to it. One from the battery, one to the starter.

difficult to replace?  expensive part?

And next time just put it in 2nd or 3rd gear and let out the clutch without any gas, that will turn it right off.

Ca-Cycleworks sells one for Yamaha for 42,-$. It is a direct replacement. Installation is pretty easy.

I have this problem occasionally, but it only seems to happen on sunny, beautiful days with temps in the 70's.

thanks guys.    anyone know of a DIY online?  I am not the most technically savvy guy...  what bike is that yamaha relay off of??? i would like to buy something local (chicagoland) seeing as though the bike is my only mode of transportation...

Not when the solenoid is stuck.

It won't stall it out?  Does the starter solenoid feed the engine gas?  Please explain

The engine turns off but the starter won't, because the starter magnet stucks. You can hit it with a screwdriver so the magnet gets loose and the starter turns off.

It keeps cranking.  Even if you were able to hold the starter motor back with the brakes, it would start cranking again as soon as you released them.

Ahhh ok i get it, man that is a helluva pickle!

Yeah it happened to me on my S4R.  I put it in neutral, unlocked the seat, turned the ignition back on so it would start, and then got out the screwdriver, disconnected the negative battery cable, and shut off the bike.  The starter is connected through a one way sprag clutch.  So if the engine is running, there is no stress on the starter.  If you let it crank with the engine off you will quickly melt cables or burn out the starter.

Had that happen to me once. I had a multi tool under the seat at the time and I disconnected the starter wire directly. Reconnected and it never happened again...
