Hey guys before i post in for sale figure i would give you all first dibs on what parts i have from the 695.  Most of these were on the bike for about 1500miles.  The cowl was on a lot less since i used a tailbag for commuting.  Local pickup would be great i can just meet you guys and gals, or if u want to ship it just add shipping.

Carbon Fiber Side Panels without a hump-100$
Red Front Fairing-going to ricol if it changes ill let you know
Red Seat Cowl with Hardware-100$
K&N Air Filter-50$

Its def heavier not by a huge amount though, i just find it much harder to backup probably since it sits higher too.  It takes a lot more muscle to throw it into turns though too, however im still a little cautious onit as im not completely used to the new feel just yet.  It is SOOOO much more stable though its like strapping a jet engine between your legs that can turn on a dime.

hey GL695, if you don't mind, I've got a couple more upgrade questions....

Everyone says going from a monster to the superbike is a HUGE jump.... how's it been going for you?

I'm also getting ready to make the same jump  Grin, but can't seem to decide between the 848 or 1098...   Huh?
Were you also considering the 848? If so, why the 1098 over it?

Its a big jump position wise but if you have self control and good clutching skills you will find the bike very manageable.  Just gotta ride within your limits, the power might be there but it doesnt mean you have to use it.  I personally spent a lot of time and thought on my 695 before upgrading and felt i had reached a level withit that could only be pushed farther with a better bike.  The real eye opener for me was when i rode my brothers cbr600 and realized " hey this thing is fast but still forgiving".  And with a higher performance bike you get much higher quality parts which make every ride that much better. 

I feel the jump hasn't been too hard but i have been riding for about 4 years on and off during the summer and consistently this past year.  Also helped that my monster had clipons so the position wasnt too radical.  That would be the hardest part in my opinion adjusting to the more aggressive stance.

Now i did heavily consider the 848 i loved the white color scheme and heard it was a better street bike overall.  But a couple of things kept me from it the first being that it doesnt get better than the 1098 hands down.  If i bought the 848 i would always be wondering whats that extra 30HP feel like?  And all that oodles of torque?  Go big or go home is how i looked at it, if i wasnt buying the best why bother i wouldnt have been satisfied with the 2nd best and i know it.  You can always get used to a more aggressive stance and more power as long as you ride within your limits.

And well the biggest deal breaker for me?  A dry clutch.....i have wanted one since i realized the 695 didnt have one and i couldnt open her up.  Its such a perfectly unique sound that is distinctly ducati and everytime that thing fires up i crack the biggest smile.  The 1098 is ultra smooth in acceleration and i have not once felt overwhelmed by the huge increase in power over the 695.

Get the 1098 you wont be dissapointed waytogo

and after your explanation gl695 i want one so bad but i'm going to wait after i graduate 
but i need a new car thinking about getting a Toyota prius with 22" dubs  laughingdp

Where'd you pick up the demo bike? I know duc soho doesn't have any demos. Every time I'm there to drool over the bikes they always throw a hissy fit when I start to roll them out the front door.  Grin

Yup ... I also put on a set of pretty aggressive clipons, for exactly that reason. I feel like everything I'm doing with my bike at this point is all in preparation for that next little beauty. Although, the more mods I do, the more I seem to be growing attached to the monster. It will be sad to say goodbye.

Get the 1098 you wont be dissapointed waytogo

NP on the advice.  Also with the modding dont stretch yourself too far on the monster.  Think of it this way every bit of money you spend to make the monster more like a SBK is every bit farther away you are from next step up.  Thats what stopped me from termis and all those other mods on the 695.  It becomes a waste at some point because it will never matchup to a bigger engine.

I'm sorry but your skill doesn't improve because you have a bigger bike. Buy it because you love it don't buy it because it's going to make you a better rider because it won't.

Truth be told... I kinda miss wringing the little bike. It was lighter and a tad easier on your body. For my favorite kinds of roads (2nd/3rd gear twistys), any 600 or so sized bike will do, in fact I plan getting one next year or so.

Granted, my RC is a bonafide pig and I enjoy the power and torque, but I wouldn't say that I'm going any faster than I did on the little bike... well maybe a little faster but I chalk that up to improved skills rather than horsepower.

Most folks never ride their bikes to 10/10ths and the only place one would ever see the true potential of a liter bike would be riding very very fast on a track.

A skilled rider on a 600 will drop the average rider on a liter bike any old day of the week IMO, except on the slab but it doesn't take much skill to twist a throttle.

I bought it because i love it there is no doubt there evil.  And i was scraping bits on my 695 due to clearance issues with the exhaust and kickstand even while having my body completely hanging off.  I never stated that a bigger bike would instantly make me a better rider.  But i have seen what good equipment can do in every sport i have played in the hands of a skilled player who has been playing with lower end equipment.  Lacrosse, Soccer, Surfing, Skateboarding, Paintball and Snowboarding especially.  After playing paintball with a automag then Angel for years when i went to a DM4 the paint to kill ratio was 10times better.  Same with boarding going from old stepins to straps with new boots i went from barely throwing 180s to stomping 540s by the end of the season.

In short i LOVE IT TO DEATH Its the most gorgeous bike i have ever laid eyes on i keep thinking im dreaming or i did some math wrong on my budget laughingdp  I did not buy it as a way to say omg im the best now, im no motogp racer.  I got it because its a beautiful piece of machinery and saw the advantages in suspenion, clearance, wider tires etc. that come with it. 

And i know i will not ever reach the full potential of this bike but that gives me something to strive for and maybe im wrong and hopefully one day i will.  Personally i cant wait to give it a shot on the track.
