Just seems like they are messing with  [moto] for no reason. 

The squids situation gets a little out of hand during the summer here in NYC. Guys get bikes and ride with no insurance, moto lic., registration, etc. You have guys in high power sport bikes hauling major ass down streets and pulling wheelies and endo's. These guys get one bike and share it between 2 or more guys and more or less terrorize certain neighborhoods with ripping down side street WOT. My bro was hit by a bike ridden by a 16 yr old with no lic. I don't like or agree with check points but if they get some of these squids off the road then I can live getting pulled over in a check point or two.

Yea, we're in the meat of spring here in the foothills of the Blue Ridge and the road blocks are out.  Went through two in the car in the last couple of days.

Last year this time I went through one and my MC permit was expired and I was charged $150, but got it reduced to $77.  Every year I have to get my permit renewed as it is good for one year.  I have gotten away with just a car license or had a MC permit for 39 years. This state required a MC license in 1970, but pulled the requirement and then reinstated it and went back and forth for the next couple of decades.  I've had MC licensed in other states, but never in my home state.

If I could pass the drivers test my insurance would go down some too.

Why don't you just take the MSF course? It's fun, you will learn something, and passing it exempts you from the DMV road test.

I can see why they put the checkpoints out there.   There are some goobers out there screwing it up for everyone, and shows like Superbikes, while I agree it is a motorcycle show, and gives a bit of publicity to the bikes, also seems to focus on the gang aspect, with all the gang handsigns, the guys in Atlanta that say you need to go 120 mph for 20 miles to join their club (pretty smart, huh?), they guys that take over a whole 4 lanes of freeway, that sh_t makes up all look bad, even though we don't hang with the same people, to the guys doing their stunt stuff on the street.   It doesn't help us a bit with PR with the 4 wheel crowd.

There are people who will claim a 4th amendment violation, but they've been doing it for a while. I've gotten stopped at one DUI checkpoint ever. Since I don't drive drunk, it didn't bother me. The guy stopping the car isn't the one ordering the checkpoint, so I didn't let him know my feelings on the constitutionality of such a stop.

You could let him know all you want. They have already been ruled to not be in violation.

A common misconception regarding the 4th Amendment is that it protects you from ALL searches. If people would learn a little bit about their own Country they wouldn't have to walk around all pissed that their "rights" are being violated.

As for illegal searches and what not, "Anonymous citizen reported a motorcyclist/motorist was brandishing a firearm."   They can do what they want then.

I'm not saying checkpoints are unreasonable, but that they lack probable cause because they are not targeted toward specific individuals.

I agree that on their face these checkpoints violate the 4th amendment. But wiser minds have researched and contemplated the issue ad nauseam and they have upheld it numerous times (dozens) both in State and Federal Supreme courts.  And the issue isn't probable cause, it's the word reasonable. The courts have deemed in the interest of public safety to allow the stops. They feel it's a minor inconvienance that benefits a greater good.  If we would only quit finding drunk drivers during each and every one of them we could probably stop doing them.
