Author Topic: Could I ride with a Broken Toe? [SPOILERS]  (Read 3143 times)

I just recently, well 3 weeks ago, broke my big toe on my left foot by dropping a star post on it, blood everywhere, ambulance came because I blacked out for 30 seconds and my S.O started panicking. I was wearing Japanese safety boots at the time it happened (flip flops to people state side). I have been limping around on it since it happened and since my bike is in the shop getting repaired, I haven't ridden. I want to pick my bike up this week and i'm pretty sure that I can ride it. I don't use my toe for changing gears, I suppose I use the part of my foot just behind my toe and being able to wear my boots will be a headache.

Just worried about stopping at traffic lights and being able to change gears, I just want my bike back.  bang head bang head bang head bang head

Edit for people who have not seen MotoGP. waytogo

I wouldn't try it. Just getting into proper footwear (you learned your lesson right?) will likely be very painful...

If it does not hurt then do it  Grin

I shift using the bridge of my Toe. I guess depending on the boot it will make a big difference.

Or do what I do most of the time unless its raining... Clutchless shifts  Wink

Yeah, well I wear steel capped boots for work and I have been walking (limping) around in them for about 1 1/2 weeks. Not too comfortable but I get used to it after 1/2 hour.

I might try my Dainese's boots this week and see how I go, I know they are pretty snug in the toe area.

This has really pissed me off!

What does clutchless shifting have to do with it?

He broke his left toe, not his left thumb.

 Huh?

Sit side saddle and change gears with your right foot!  Also a good solution when wearing a skirt.

Ack! My EYES!

As far as shifting with a broken big toe, likely it's going to hurt.
Whether it's too much for you, who knows?

It may hinder the healing, best to ask your doctor.
