you were turning your head looking at a hot girl and then you didnt notice you were riding toward a tree with a branch sticking out and it clipped you?

The make the beast with two backsmake the beast with two backsmake the beast with two backs suggests a period (about .1 second) of trying to save it.  So, probably not a branch.

That'd just be

OOOH, nice, make the beast with two backs OW!

...wouldn't it?

CairnsDuc

I took the "Nice" as a cynical nice, as in "Nice! this is going to hurt"

or am I way off the mark with that call  ;D

OOOH Nice; As we came around the S bend out of the trees, and the beautiful lake with the concrete causeway became clear.

make the beast with two backs; As my front tire hit the edge of the concrete causeway.
make the beast with two backs; as my back tire whipped around and the bike traveled sideways for about 5-6 feet.
make the beast with two backs; as the bike and I hit the ground together.
OH SHIT!; As the bike and I(Bike on top) slid about 20 feet down the causeway.
OW!; As we came to a stop.

I've got road rash to right knee and shoulder, bruised or cracked rib(Probably bruised), and deep tissue injury to left calf(?) and left thumb/forefinger.
Bike has snapped right rearset, ground right peg, bent handlebar, ground throttle and grip, dented tank, missing right turn signals, and scraped mirror.
Engine, forks, wheels, etc. are all fine, not even a scratch. Rode it home about 35 miles.

crap  :-\

glad you are well enough to tell us all abou tit.

did you go to the hospital? if not you should.
Thanks.
Nah, Honestly, I've been hurt worse playing rugby.
What'll hurt the most is my wallet. Have you seen what they want for a tank these days?

Any crash you walk away from is a good thing, did you target fixate or just ran a little wide?

He Man

heal fast! You sound brusied up, just walk it off. and if if you have health insurance, get that rib xrayed, but if you play rugby, its probably not that big of a deal.

Seasons just begun, so bolt on some new rearsets bars and leave the tank for the winter. Do you have collision coverage?

[/quoteNeither. there was a lip where the concrete causeway joined the asphalt road, and the lip was at the end of a curve. I hit the lip coming out of the curve, (felt like I blew the front tire) and since the bike wasn't straight to the lip, it jerked the bike sideways.
No collision/comprehensive, unfortunately. Also, the rugby was twenty years ago, and I'm suddenly remembering why I gave it up!
I felt bad for my buddy riding behind me. I think I traumatized him.

No doc required for that one.

deep tissue injury to left calf(?) and left thumb/forefinger.

No doc required for that one, assuming that it gets better in a normal amount of time.

That one ought to get looked at.  Impact injury to the torso = chance of internal bleeding = Teh Suckâ,,¢.  If you've got insurance, use it.

Howie

Glad you are pretty much intact.  You should go to the doctor, just to be on the safe side.  Check with the local authorities, they may be liable, the way you describe the road they built an edge trap.

Bun-bun

Well, I probably overstated the ribs. It's been a few hours, and the pain has localized to the muscles under my right arm. No bruising, just some abused muscles.
My gear did it's job, and did it well. I was traveling at about 45-50 MPH when I went down. The Joe Rocket mesh jacket and Icon Mainframe helmet are both throwaways. The Sliders jeans have minor fraying to the right knee. The Timberland boots are slightly scuffed, and no, my boots did NOT fly off. :D
