I have a big ride coming up, nothing TOO extravagent... No more than 750 miles in the weekend...
Do I need new tires?
I'm rolling on stock BattleAxes, BT014... 4700 miles on them total. Zero burnouts, etc...

Excuse the chicken strips... Not much room for me to get horizontal round these parts...

Yes.  I'm not sure you have 750 miles left in that rear.  It's amazing how quick a rear goes from no grooves showing to cords showing.
Occasionally AFM #702  My stuff:  The M1000SS, a mashed r6, Vino 125, the Blonde, some rugrats, yuppie cage, child molester van, bourbon.

Damn.
There goes my DP seat for the trip :/

Oh well, thanks for being blunt and clear.
Pilot Powers on the way...

from the looks of it, you might benefit more from Pilot road 2cts. youll defintely feel a big difference between your current tires, and powers or road2cts.

corey

Yea it's a tossup right now between the Powers and the Road2CT's...
I know they would be worth it, but it's going to come down to cashflow this weekend, and what i feel like spending....
The cost increase on the road2's is significant...

+1, I'd say odds are good you'd have fur showing before 750 more on that rear.

I'd say go for the regular Pilot Roads, they're slightly cheaper than the Powers.

Quick side note. Anyone know off hand what material my S2R800 marchesini wheels are made out of?

true, but you could end up putting two sets of powers on to one set of the road 2ct's..........
if there is any way you can afford it, get the 2ct's

If you do a lot of straight line work, the BT 021 Sports Touring tyre from Bridgestone is also a great Tyre, Side grip is very good, but the Centre is very hard and should give much longer wearing then the OEM tyres

My rear looked like that and I wasn't even close to getting another 750 miles before I saw cord.
The scary and educational experience was feeling the tire once it was off - extremely thin  :o  One sharp rock would blow it right up. I'm not doing that again. Besides, you'll have so much more fun on a new tire [thumbsup]

well... i'm splurging on a set of Pilot Road 2's...
I'll post up my reactions.

BT-21's are cheaper and comparable in longevity. Might want to look in those too..

VisceralReaction

I have another vote for the BT-21
I have just over 10000 on my rear and will probably get another 1000 miles before they are shot.
I am getting another set of these for sure.

i'll keep the bt-021's in mind.. honestly though i'm just trying the michelins for a change of pace. all i've ridden on is the bridgestones, i'd like to experience a few different brands before i start getting TOO loyal ;D

Hey don't get me wrong, Michelins rock, hands down. I've used them and was very happy with them.
But for the cost difference and better mileage the BT21s are great too.
Good grip and a nice profile makes them pretty neutral in cornering.
