I never did figure out why they don't sell bikes like this to begin with—and instead of selling fender eliminators for extra, companies could sell fenders (or not, cause no one would buy em!).
All to say it looks/is
that
much better.

There are standards any manufacturer must meet to sell a product, thus the factory fender and, for the US, reflectors plus enough other regulations to fill a room.

Ive used the CW fender eliminator on my previous M800 and loved it. Easy to install. Finished well.
I will be doing the same to my S4Rs

Why not just buy $10 worth of aluminum and make your own?

Yeah, there's a requirement for the fender to go past the rear wheel...

I wonder what bureaucrat's idea that was...
Still you'd think it would be a marketing "feature" for it to be made out of cellophane and have an extremely simple way to snap it off (with the correct place to put the license plate already built).

Why not just buy $10 worth of aluminum and make your own?
Because you'd be missing out on the total Ducati experience of spending $100 for $10 worth of aluminum made by somebody else?

I don't think I have the equipment to make such clean bends in the aluminum as the CW kit, though.

And because it would cost me more in repairs and first aid bills given my lack of "handiness"

You gotta appreciate a man being honest with himself (and others). I still have my beer tray, but my fender is gone. We get too many sporadic rain showers around here.
