Bike: 2006 S2R 800 Dark
The other day while moving my bike off the stand, this small (size of a nickel) black part fell off my bike.
Didn't see where it came from. It seems to be hard plastic. Have no idea where it goes.

Anyone have an idea what it is and where it goes?  ???

Spidey

Between the fins on your cylinder.  Don't worry about it.  You aren't the first person whose bike shed a hockey puck or two.
Occasionally AFM #702  My stuff:  The M1000SS, a mashed r6, Vino 125, the Blonde, some rugrats, yuppie cage, child molester van, bourbon.

JBubble

There's more on your bike. Look in between the fins on the motor.

Thanks Spidey and JBubble, that was fast.  I thought nobody would know, but now I'm wondering why the heck I ever thought that.  Most people on here know just about every damn thing possible.

I'm still crackin' up that people call these "duc turds".  [laugh]

Yes, WHY would you think that?!   [laugh]

I think the record is 17 seconds and that was for a really hard question.   ;)

Haha. I found one of those next to my 695 the other day, and just threw it onto my workbench...

I figured if it's not a bolt, or looks like a vital piece that would keep my bike together..."out of sight, out of mind! [cheeky]"

But for the 1000's of other "real" Ducati owners that would immediately trailer the bike to the shop, and wait for them to open because their bike is 'falling apart'.  [laugh]

Slide Panda

I call 'em Duc poo, or duc pucks.

No one mentioned it, but they are inserted at the factory to damp the resonance of the cooling fins.

But depending in where it fell from it could throw the whole bike off balance!  :P

Mine fell out just before a 3 day trip.  I figured if the bike started up and I didn't crash on the way to breakfast, I'd be good to go for the trip.   Being a tad OCD, however, I knew I had to save it and post up a mystery part question.

? dude, I assume you're not referring to the majority of people on this forum. if so, I'd have to say you're off the mark.  I don't think there are a bunch of trailer queens here.  :)

My bike isn't a trailer queen, that's why I drove to the shop in my Subaru to ask about the part!  :P

haha...I think I should clarify before getting myself into trouble. I didn't mean for that to be directed towards any members of the DMF. I was referring to the one's that buy a Duc (or any bike) just to brag about owning one, and never ride [bang], let alone wrench on it. I'm sure everyone's met someone that fits the description...

I dream that I'll one day stumble onto a CraigsList ad for a S4RS w/ 10 miles for $7K, that the millionaire owner needs out of his garage ASAP to make space for his new Bentley... [thumbsup]
