Im going to call this guy up tomorrow and check it out. How much damage do you think this is right here? $7grand worth it?

Bet the plastics cost more than that. Are you going to repair or replace the "scuffed" tank and tail? Replacement I'd guess close to $1,500-$2000 for the tank, prolly $1,400 for the tail. Front and side.... dunno. Hell with that damage it could well be a "totalled" bike. Ask if the title is salvage or clear. Has an insurance company looked at it? They could find frame damage on a bike that's never been ridden. Honestly I still think it's a good deal. If I had the cash I'd do it. But I like projects and I'd turn it into something ugly, evil and streetfighter.

how do you lose both mirrors and front turn indicators on a low side? i guess it is possible, but i would bet there is more to it. the clutch side clip on looks toasted too...

also, +1 on the likelihood of it being an insurance "total" if it is that new (assuming it was insured)

if nothing else, it would be an awesome starter for a track bike.

that looks like on of those projects that ends up costing twice what you thought... becuase its a superbike you will want it perfect. If you can live with not so perfect it may be a good deal....maybe a baby streetfighter!! [evil]

You guys obviously don't know He-Man.

The guy will spen about 200 bucks bondo, paint, and sandpaper and attack it until it looks decent. Then he'll take a rattlecan to it and he's gonna come out with something badass.

If there really is no mech damage, I say go for it. It looks something like my 996 did when I got it.

Ps: you know where to go for the fibreglass / carbon you're gonna need right?

NAKID

Yeah, I would probably go for it, but I would start the offer at $5k...

Check Sharkskinz...you can get a new set of street fairings for about $1,100 or so...then they need painted.

The stock mirrors and signals suck ass. Get a set of bar end mirrors ($200), and convert your front parking lights into the turn signals (I think SilentBob did this to his 1098, probably <$100).

I can't imagine it wouldn't need new clipons after a low side that caused all that damage. I also think it is weird that a simple low side killed both mirrors.  :-\

Also, be sure to check the rear set mounting tabs...they are notorious for bending from low sides. Speedymoto sells nice (and beefier) replacement tabs for $30, but they require the old ones to get ground off, and the new ones welded on...which then requires the frame to be repainted if you want it to look nice. More $$.

I probably wouldn't go much higher than $6K since you're looking at investing an additional $1,500-$2,000 (minimum) for repairs...bringing the total cost to ~$8K for the bike...which may be difficult to sell given it's history. If the rear set tabs are bent I'd knock another $500 off that amount. I'd knock another $500 off for the lame rim stripes too!  [cheeky]

For comparison, I just sold my pristine 848 for $11,200....and it had Termis, a steering damper, and a bunch of other bits.

what happened to Bensonhurst, my god I was on 61street at 18th picking up my tux standing there waiting for other for a good 2 hours, damn that area went to sH*t

Alright, just called him up, well. He sounds like a kid. not more than 22, and he took out some personal loans from family to buy the bike. Someone taped him on the left, and lost control and low sided it on the right. Or maybe it was the other way around (i forgot). ANd he is working all day today and tomorrow. so im going to go see it wednesday morning.

He apprently grounded out his speedymoto frame sliders, and the axle sliders. He has only liability and wants to pay his uncle back quickly. Either way, im gonna take a look at it and see how it fairs.

The radiator hose got torn, im pretty sure its not safe to turn on the engine right now? But id  have no other way of knowing its still runs.... any words of wisdom for me when i go check it out?

and yea, ill find ways to get this back looking pretty decent for cheap....

oh and this dude lives on Ave X and W4.  Is that even bensonhurst anymore????

NAKID

Even though the radiator hose is torn, it should still run. Just don't run it long. But that should ensure that it does actually run...

MotoGPFan fixed a guy's 848 last year. PM him and he should be able to give you a ballpark.
