its been about 5 years for me

I quit for two months after I got married. Then my attitude took a turn for the worst and I was being a dick to my sweet new wife for no reason. I caved and started again. I am ready to try to quit again.

It's one of the few vices I have left.

There's nothing better than a cigarette or cigar after a good meal, or with that first cup of coffee in the morning. Aaaaahh!

I tried to get addicted once as a dumb experiment. I failed miserably.

First few packs made me downright tipsy/dizzy, so I'm definitely sensitive to it, but I never had the desire to go out of my way to smoke.

I honestly wanted to see what the big deal was... how it could possibly be worth all the money, health risks, social stigma, etc. I also really wanted to understand the difficulty in quitting I always hear about. I guess I didn't try long enough?

At least I got some sweet Clapton-inspired cigarette burns on my strat from it. [laugh]

While I was deployed, I switched from cigarettes to Skoal. Now I'm weening myself off of that by switching to Camel Snus. I'm down to 3 pouches a day of that stuff.

I quit smoking Wednesday right after I walked out of the bar I was in.  I'll probably quit again Saturday after I walk out of whatever bar I've been in.

My brother-in-law is getting a triple bypass today, thanks mostly to 30+ years of smoking.

I quit back in October after 12 years of smoking and several failed attempts at quitting. Sounds stupid, but all I did was read a book. The Easy Way to Stop Smoking by Allen Carr. I thought it was BS until several of my friends quit after reading it, but since I read it I've been swearing it was the best $15 I ever spent.

I have read this book three times.  >:( :'(
