to my radiator woes...I took the radiator off so I can take it to a shop and noticed what looked like diarrhea under my counter sprocket.
Pulled the cover off and found a little piece of rubber that looks suspiciously like it might be the seal for the front sprocket  [bang]
How bads it leakin? I dunno. But I do know 2 weeks ago when I put the new slave cyl on there was no leak.

Is this a simple matter of yanking the sprocket and replacing the seal or is this a split the cases type deal?

The countershaft seal can be changed without splitting the cases...

but are you sure it's not the dust boot for the slave?

There was no oil around the new slave. I cleaned up the case around the sprocket so we'll see. I did crank seals on my VW often enough it shouldn't be a problem if it's a leaker, just wanted to make sure it was an outside in job

There doesn't really have to be leaking from the slave for the dust boot to deteriorate from chain lube.

Got a pic of this rubber piece?

looks like a bit the RTV sealer ducati uses instead of a real gasket.  probably not the issue.

+1 that just looks like the gasket maker material.
