Love the new Streetfighter but...
«

As much as I love the look of the new street fighter and man would I love to tear it up on an 1198S, I really love my monster. There is just something about the Monster that says "F-You and your bike, i'm riding a monster" The culture of the Monster is different than any other bike. Which is all the reason why I bought one in the first place. So everytime I look at other bikes and think "that would be cool" I still think, "but it's not a Monster" so ill just keep modding my S4r probably, Maybe CF wheels next year [moto] [moto]

I orginally hated the StreetFighter.....until I saw one in person....Now I think of it as an evil pissed-off Monster on steroids.

Hate to say it here on this Forum but I sold my monster to get the Streetfighter.
I was convinced that the Monster was the best bike ever built and nothing could replace it.
I was wrong... As much as I loved the Monster, the Streetfighter is a better bike in every way.
I don't regret it one bit, The Streetfighter takes the Monster concept to another level.
Ducati got this one right.

Some people just see what they want to see...
It's been a while but if you remember I clearly made a point of how much I love Ducati motorcycles.
It's OK, I didn't get a bottle of Desmo Rosso wine or even attend a fashion show to get the bike.
My Ducati Puma shoes are not showing a whole lotta wear and I haven't taken the Streetfighter to Starbucks yet.
Cut me some slack man I'm on your side

It's an interesting concept, the "different culture" of the monster. As beautiful as I think the monster is, I know that when mine's parked next to fully-faired bikes I see it, feel a little embarrassed and think to myself "Oh lawd, she's completely naked!"
And then I remember that she's a motorcycle, and I'm being an idiot, but the feeling doesn't dissipate entirely. I'm still trying to figure out whether it is just a "different culture" of motorcycle thing, or whether that's the subliminal cry of the sportbike calling my name!

They're just motorcycles. I've gotten way past the point of getting attached to them. Right now, the S4 is #37. I'll beat on it for a while. I might do some stuff to it, I might not. I'll keep replacing tires, doing maintenance, whatever to keep it running, then I'll get something else. And I will never, ever name them. They're just toys to me. And I suppose that right before I die, I'll be done.

Rode it Saturday... Waaaay different everything than the Monster. My buddy and I agreed that it doesn't really seem like a successor to the S4R (and we both have one).. That doesn't mean I didn't like it.. It is definitely a sportier feel.. It even has more legroom than a Monster.. I got back on my Monster afterward and it felt like I was getting on to a cruiser.
If I get one I will wait for the following:
RED FRAME!!!
Lose the ugly stickers around the ignition.. They look like they were a last minute thing..
Lose the radiator slider things.. Again.. Looks like an afterthought. They need to be black or CF.

Well you say that until to ride one took a test ride a couple of weeks ago and you think the f-u get from the monster is good, you would get a f-u-motha-f'er when you take street fighter out for a ride. I could not stop smiling all day from a 25 minute ride on one. Definitely worth its weight in gold and even more worth its weight in green backs. If my wifes dowry kicks in anytime soon going to use it to pick one up.

I always feel sort of like James Dean whenever I park my Monster near any other bike, like a rebel happy to be so different.
The Monster is just plain sexy in it's raw naked state. There is a different culture about Monster's; one that gets peoples interest, one that sets it apart from the rest, one which is a throw back to the rebel attitudes of the 40's and 50's, it's one which makes people happy. It's interesting to think of it that way and I've lost count at how many times people ask about it, how the Monster gets more attention than custom stretched Busa's, and the times where people just walk up to it and smile as they drool in awe.
I'd love to have another bike, perhaps even the Street Fighter, but I can't see letting go of my Monster.
When it comes down to it, it's just too cool.

Are you thinking of "Rebel Without a Cause" (James Dean, but no motos)
Or "The Wild One" (Marlin Brando, and motos).

That's cause it's not designed to be a successor to the S4R. Hence the reason it's not part of the Monster line...

A little of both I think.
