New dog, and potential trauma

Popeye the Sailor

So,

We recently took in a wiener dog from a friend. Basically, he's been neglected for some time, and while the woman already had two other dogs, and two kids, well, she just popped a third out, so she's busy. We felt bad for the poor neglected sucker, who was beat up on by the other dogs, and the little kids.

My thoughts are, at some point, when the kids ask, they're going to be informed that the poor little wiener they grew up with went to live on a friends farm out in the country. Which is true.

Now at some point, a few years further down the road, the wee ones will realize that "sending a dog off to a farm in the country" is a nice way of saying "we had him put down and didn't tell you".

I'm wondering if they'll call their parents liars or not  :P

Ohhh yes. I'll tape him to a tiny electric chair and send a pic.

That's along the lines I was thinking.
