I only got wind of some of the coolness that happened earlier in the afternoon, but when it was all said and done I left the store with pizza in my belly and an autographed tail section for my FZR in my hand.   waytogo  Great gig!  I was so glad I went.   Vino!

So where are all these famous photos?

When I got there he ducked in the back room for a Red Bull or something. He must've known I had that Shanghai picture for him to sign.

Rossi's bike on the store floor was very cool though. I'm sure it's like his C or D bike, but still badass.

BG says it was a 2007 bike painted with 2008 livery and shod with Bridgestones. It's the same bike that Yamaha had at Miller for people to take photos on.

They also had the coolest invention ever in the back:

Yes, that's a wood-fired pompei oven...on a trailer. I'm tempted to rent that thing for GP.

See, she keeps saying that. That's why I'm towing one of these behind the pizza oven:

Not a chance! I knew DQ would just wet himself when he saw that thing. Maybe he shouldn't have seen it in the first place. bang head

Check everyone's Facebook pages.

Typical celebrity behavior. Grin He was in the back room watching GP races with his agent. I managed to sneak in there and have him sign a baseball cap for me. No pictures with the guy, but I'm not heartbroken. Still, he was very pleasant and gracious with the fans, posing for countless photos. On a side note, I found out he also speaks Italian.

Just watch me. We can cram your scooter into the porta-potty trailer.

I can't claim to have been a big Lorenzo fan, but I went and met him just to see. He was quite gracious and down to earth I have to say. Quick with a hand shake.

Interesting notes:
He said sharing a garage with V. Rossi is kind of a pregnant dog. He said Valentino is beyond competitive and doesn't take someone else so close on his heals in the same garage well. The little hand shakes you see after the races is pretty much all their exchanges. They do NOT hang out or talk at all, though their mechanics share info tech and settings etc.

I'm always taken aback by those so clearly on top who find it necessary to shun everyone like that. It's a bit of an exaggeration I feel, though I wonder, is that what it takes to get 100 wins?

End of the day, Lorenzo changing his tone and taking the time to hang with us a bit has done it's job. Not a bad guy.

Imagine having to do those events over and over and over.  While they're not difficult work, it must get irritating after a few years.  Yes, he gets a fat paycheck, but it's cool when someone can put on a good face for the fans.  I remember him being quite the brat when he was in 250's.  I think he's matured a bit over the past couple of years.
