Cafe project on Two Guys Garage

During fishing show commercials this morning I flipped over to the Speed channel and caught the Two Guys Garage show starting a CB550 cafe project. Looks like a cool project - might have to keep watching it.

That's a very nice little bike there. I hope they don't make the beast with two backs it up.

We'll see. I've watched this show for years and it is usually a no BS show, but I've never seen them do a bike. I think it used to be on PBS. They fired the old guy that had been the host since the beginning and gave the show to the new guy with the facial hair. I've got a '72 CB175 I'm about to start in on, so it was very informative. They took front and rear disk brake hubs off late model Honda dirtbike and planned to lace them in to the 550 rims. Cool and cheap idea to get disk front and rears on an old drum brake bike. They fabbed an aluminum cowl for the rear that was real nice and did some trick stuff hiding the electrics under it. A handy trick they did involved installing the underseat tray with Dzus in two pieces so the electrics could be dropped out without taking off the cowl or the seat. Something to think about when I replace my underseat with a piece of aluminum. They also moved the ignition to that removable panel. Kind of a cool idea except your key is dangling down right above the tire......

They didn't fire the old guy - he died. Cancer I think. Show tried another older guy as replacement before current cast.

Actually, the guy I was referring to was Sam Memmolo and he retired.

. His other program I used to watch was not on Public TV but on TNN and was called the Shade Tree Mechanic.
His old partner on Two Guys was Dave McBride, who has passed, but I don't know how.
