I was a tactical shotgun instructor for eleven years at a shooting academy. Took many, many classes from Clint Smith (Thunder Ranch), Louis Awerbach (Yavapia Firearms Academy), John Farnham (Defense Training International, Inc.) and many others. I wouldn't recommend mixing your scattergun ammo. Stick to a tactical buckshot round (3" isn't necessary) or straight slug rounds (Awerbach's choice) in your weapon. Even birdshot or #4  buckshot is extremely effective in close quarters situations. Just saying... do what you want. [thumbsup] I always liked telling my classes don't bring your 9mm to my shotgun fight. [laugh]

I dislike pistol grips to begin with; yes, I have shot several, even some illegal with shorter barrels and just dont feel like I have any control.

Different tools for different jobs.  I used to never be a big fan of shorty shotguns until I needed one, and just happened to have one handy.  We had at least one 870 (standard length magazine tube with barrel cut down to the limit) in each of our trucks while in Afghanistan as a last resort attitude adjuster (i.e. make the beast with two backs you hajji).  You'd be surprised how easy those are to manipulate during VERY close quarters needs.  Just a bit loud though.  ;)

Anyone here into 10/22's? Post some pics if you got them.

I currently have two. One is mine and the other belongs to my 13 year old daughter. She's had it since she was 9. I've got both of them modified to look like something they are not. Both run bull barrels and other goodies. I'll post up some pics once I get a chance.

I would love to take my daughter camping with our 10/22's and do some varmint hunting. I don't know much about hunting and would not know where to start.

Post up your Ruger's!

I've got one, but not really modified at all.

I have a bi-pod on it, a few 25 round magazines, and a scope.

But if you want, I can snap some photos later.

My first gun was a 10/22.

Here's what its replacement looks like now:

The brake is totally for giggles.

Nice Ruger there ATO..

I've always really been into rimfires.. but I have never owned a 10/22.. wanted to, thought about it but something else always draws me to not buying a 10/22...

any way, another one of my favorites.

1930 DWM .30 Luger.

It may not have high capacity or anything modern, but it has a certain elegance about the way it shoots, its just smooth and the trigger is excellent.

I wonder why no one ever expanded or modernized the toggle locking mechanism. I think its great..

The 10/22 is a great 'hobbyists' gun. Like the Monster, there are tons of 'bolt-on' upgrades available. And for far cheaper than the AR counterparts. I've done a good bit of work to the trigger group, stock, scope mount, barrel, and bolt. I think I'm really only missing a nice bipod to finish it off.

I may frankenstein its receiver and replace it with a billet receiver with the rear cleaning hole. They look great and it would really take the platform up a notch. That, and I'd have one of the two receivers needed to make the 10/22 gatling. [laugh]

looks nice, but it has a good trigger? I've had a few lugers, and they all had horrible triggers.

Its no target pistol, and its not the trigger my k22 masterpiece has (which is a excellent target pistol), but for being a 1930 made combat pistol designed in 1900, its pretty good, breaks clean, doesn't creep and is more then light enough for its intended use.

were yours mauser or DWM?

cduarte

all the lugers I had were mauser ww2, one was a byf41, can't remember the others.

My most recent purchase:

Despite the shorter barrel, accuracy doesn't seem to be noticeably worse than my full-length Romanian AK. The two-stage trigger is nicer, as well, without the snap of the Romanian's single-stage.
