You'll get a lot of input from your CETME or FAL etc. post. I also am a big fan of FALs. All of mine are Belgian FNs and one Argentine (actually a real nice one!), even have two sear cut G series rifles. I have never shot a DSA/FAL but I have read goods things about them. I read a torture test on one years ago and it came through like a champ! I forget how many rounds they ran straight through it but it was damn impressive. [thumbsup]

FALs are pretty amazing, read about the Tale of Old Dirty.

something like 20,000 rounds without being cleaned.  lubed, but not cleaned.  at one point, he threw it in a pond to "clean" it, sprayed it down with lube and kept going.  pretty brutal.  pics posted.

You can do this with an AK/Galili, maybe an SKS.  I challenge any AR love to try it...

"Yelling out of cars, turning your speakers out the window to blast your music onto the street, setting off M-80 firecrackers, firing automatic weapons into the airâ€"these are all well and good. But none of them create a merry atmosphere of insouciance and bonhomie quite like a revving motorcycle.

Thought about getting an AK, but already have a M4, so don't see the point right now.

MAYBE with an LWRC or the like, but definitely not with a DI gun.

I am from UK so no longer allowed to own any guns ,I used to have a big collection  and I nove live in Thailand where as a foreigner i am not allowed to own a gun either ......however my wife is Thai so we have a couple of shooters .....the only problem is that they cost 3 times the USA price  so we have a S&W .38 small frame for my wife and i have  a sawn off greener 12 bore  and a machete  and a realy nice Russian Spetznatz  combat switch blade  its not a toy the spring is reallky heavy duty .I am trying to get a 9mm here but they cost $3000 minimum for a SIG226 or a Glock although Illegal guns are freely available including AK47 and RPG7.

When i go to work i am often required to carry a weapon and my personal choice is a SIG 226 as a side arm and a Galil as a main weapon, but often i have to take whats available.I dont like glocks they dont seem that accurate to me , i like the new Walther 99 and HK I also like Kimber 1911 45s .   M16s M4 and AK47 0r 74 are all handy pieces  but I have even carried an old Thomsen 45 M1A1 as a personal defence weapon ,it was reliable and you knew whatever it hit would stay down .

The Sig 226 is a weapon I cant seem to miss a target with it seems an extension of my mind i look at a target even one handed shot and they go to it .Its soldly made ,functional, not pretty but to me its a bautiful tool.

Yes, especially for this feature:

As an interesting additional feature, it is possible to take the drum magazine off the firearm, attach a detonator, and use it as an anti-personnel mine that fires all of the cartridges at once when tripped. The manufacturer advertised this as the "Beartrap."[2]

Went to a local gun show yesterday for the first time in probably 7-8 years. Used to live at the shows all over Dallas-Ft. Worth, never missed one then after years of going I just got tired of all the same old sh#t and stopped. This one used to be OK but yesterday it sucked. All the big dealers/collectors that used to be there were gone and someone most have opened the doors and released all those zombies y'all have been talking about. Some of the folks creeped me out, I felt more comfortable being around the "pants on da ground" gang banger wannabes. I swear every other woman had on a Harley t-shirt or jacket... not that there's anything wrong with that. [laugh] I was just disappointed by the whole scene, not the quality of dealers and hardware that used to be there. Maybe I'll try and hit one of the better ones in the future and see how it's held up.

OK... back to showing off your guns! ;D

I quit going to gun shows a few years ago.

The last one I went to sucked. The pricing was awful, there were no deals, etc.

I've heard the best deals are the ones you strike up with fellow attendees. My favorite vendors are the guys who sell the anarachist books. make the beast with two backsing hilarious.

Last gun show before that was at the State Fair Grounds when I was living in Indy.

A Certified Glock Armorist (or whatever they are called) actually discharged a firearm at the show, on a concrete floor by accident!!!

Thank god I wasn't there.

Nice. [roll] Gee, bet that AD really helped his business! [bang] :P He's lucky the ricochet didn't kill someone! Aren't there usually about 200 signs at shows saying no loaded guns, no loaded magazines, etc?? I noticed about ten signs yesterday around the entrance specifically saying that even though you may have a concealed carry license you cannot bring in your loaded carry gun. I guess those have popped up since I stopped going a few years back. Wasn't carrying anyway.

Not sure what the rules are for the vendors.

You could carry into this show, but I believe no loaded mags and they would make you open the slide and put a zip tie through the barrel and out ejection port or in from where the mag loads. I can't remember, but they zip died it so when the slide would close, it would hit the plastic tie. Seemed pointless.

Not really sure what that would accomplish............

Keeps the weapon from being able to return to battery.

Yep, all the guns on display or the ones you bring with you are inspected by a police officer and zip tied the same way.

that's pretty typical, i think.  i've been to some where the beef jerky and "snarky t-shirt" vendors outnumbered actual gun sellers.

back in memphis, i used to go to one and there was a neo-nazi guy there every time with a table with pamphlets and shit.  one year i went, and they had put a black gun dealer next to him, the black dude had a bunch of 2nd AM posters and a JEWS FOR THE PRESERVATION OF FIREARMS OWNERSHIP poster which he had set up RIGHT next to the nazi's booth.  I stopped and chatted with him and asked him if he had complained.. he was like "hell no, it's my civic duty to be right here and drive this idiot NUTS".. i bought an SKS from him.

I remember you told me that story a few years ago.

That is awesome! [laugh] Yeah, the non gun dealers pretty much equaled or maybe even out numbered the gun/accessory dealers at that show. There was even a lady selling baked goods!! What next? Girl Scout cookies? Hey, I'd buy those!! [thumbsup] Put the Girl Scouts on the other side of the neo-Nazi yahoo! [laugh] Maybe he'd even buy some.
