Entreprise used to have a bad reputation.  I don't know if they've come around or not.  Gunplumber (the FAL expert, no really..) wouldn't touch them last I checked.

That being said, if the rifle cycles and fires safely then it should be fine.  I know Entreprise made an aluminum receiver and it was a disaster, this is a normal steel one.

They've got a pile of them at my local gun store....

I wonder if the "parts kit" they use contains new or used parts or a mix? You'd think if the kit was all new parts they would be proud of it and say so. Could be used components that have been re-finished. Maybe Angler can shed some light since he's seen them at the store. I am not familiar with that make of FAL.

I used to own an Atlantic Arms AR-15. (I think that was the MFG).

I don't know.  I remember talking to the sale person and handling one, but can't recall the specifics.  I recall him saying that Atlantic builds them out of surplus parts.  They look all new.

I tried calling them, but we are in the middle of a blizzard and they aren't open.  I'd be happy to ask next time I'm in there.....

I've bought parts kits before. It can be hit and miss, like most other things.

Most kits are demilled military surplus, so they run the gamut. My AMD kit looks like it had never been fired, but had a lot of scuffing from moving around a warehouse or three.

All of them have new, USA-made parts to satisfy the parts count requirements.  This usually means hammer, trigger, sear, piston, pistol grip/butt, muzzle device and the magazine parts (spring, follower, bottom), and some other parts, i forgot how manh USA parts are required on a FAL.

Most have the original barrels but after the barrel ban, they have USA made barrels.

It is not entirely "accurate" to say "make of FAL" because VERY FEW of them are 100% ground up from one source.  Usually they are parts kit made from any of 2 dozen countries (all matching parts usually) and a new receiver (since the old one was full auto and destroyed).

That being said, there are PLENTY of people making top quality replacement parts -- internals, magazines, barrels, stocks, even bolts and bolt carriers too.

DSA makes a 100% "new" gun with newly made parts but it runs $4000-4500.  They sell one that is made from Austrian FAL parts kits (they bought almost ALL of Austria's milsurp FALs, like 800,000 of them!!) and a new USA made receiver for about $1100.

Oh yeah.  I thought you meant the austrian milsurp kits.  The DSA fal that is all USA new parts is a thing to behold

can't go wrong with the Swiss.  the 238 is very chunky looking, i wonder how it handles?

i have a 220 and a 232.  both are great guns.

It's a pretty ergonomic little gun. I've got medium hands with thin fingers, and it feels just right in my hand. YMMV of course. I've yet to shoot it, but when i do, I'll post up a little bit about it.
